About the photo & how I took it -- This image was shot along Kebler Pass outside of Crested Butte, Colorado, home to the world's largest organism; its Aspen forest. In fact, its so large that it has the ability to create its own weather. I spend a lot of my time here during autumn. It is simply an amazing place and this year I spent a little over a week down here photographing it as much as I physically could.
In this scene, the sun was just beginning to rise turning some of the clouds a brilliant shade of orange while other clouds remained dark due to an incoming snow storm. The Aspen trees were just glowing in the very subtle light illuminating below me. For this image I used a Fotodiox 2 stop Grad ND to hold back the highlights in the sky and a CPL to bring out the color of the leaves along with the blues in the image. I decided on an exposure of just over 1 second as I was worried anything longer could show movement in the trees which I wanted to avoid.
I hope you enjoy it!

If you ever get over on this side of the pond, it should be on your hit list of places to shoot
