Description
Another of my OCs, an obake with a sad past. I'm actually considering drawing a manga/light novel using this character, but I need to get better at drawing if I want to do that. XD I also need to flesh out all the characters (I'll draw them eventually, her sisters need a heavy rework, though).
Personality: A very kind, caring and positive person. For her, family comes first and will do anything for them. Having spent years as a ghost has warped her perception of reality a little bit (only having her sisters as a reminder of her previous life and humanity) and sometimes acts in weird ways. She's oblivious of her current appearance, but when pointed out she becomes very self aware and shy.
Backstory:
Born during the Edo period to a powerful daimyo (warlord/landlord) and his official wife. She grew in a castle along with her younger sisters (from the same mother) and siblings (from her father's concubines). At the young age of 9, her father arranged her marriage to the son of another daimyo, a 14 years old boy, in order to consolidate power. The ceremony would be held once she reaches the age of 14. She was happy at the prospect of helping her family and marrying someone as nice as her fiancée. This happiness was short lived, though, as a few days after the marriage was announced, her little sister disappeared, leaving no trace whatsoever. This was devastating for the family, especially for her and her mother.
5 years passed since, everything was getting better and the day of the marriage was close. But one night everything changed, the ghost of her deceased sister suddenly appeared in the castle, repeating Yokai1's fiancée's name over and over (I know, they need names). They decided to call off the wedding and requested a meeting with the other family. Yokai1's family accused her former fiancée of being responsible of her sister's death, but without proof no one believed them.
Soon after, the daimyo and his son started spreading the rumours about that family being crazy and a bunch of liars, severely damaging their status. Their servants started leaving the castle, not only because the bad image of the family, but also because the ghost of their daughter now haunting it, with only few loyal ones remaining.
Years passed and she was unable to get another fiancée despite her beauty, fortune and her father's powerful status as a daimyo, the family's image was too damaged. When her parents passed away, the few remaining servants left, and so did the concubines and their children.
Now alone with her sister, she tried to keep everything together the best she could, but to no avail.
It wasn't long before everything got to her and she decided to take her own life, hanging herself.
Since then she haunts her own castle along with her sisters. Over the years the despair which forced her to commit suicide has been consuming her, slowly turning her into a yokai. Having her sisters to keep her in check has helped her retain most of her humanity, without them she would be lost forever.
