Equating the average Sonic game's plot to a fanfiction is an insult to fanfiction. The gameplay has improved massively from Colours onwards, but the only recent game with a passable story was the latest one, and that didn't explain enough. And the tie-in comic didn't explain anything either, but then again, what would you expect from... okay, their head writer actually is an ascended fanfic writer. It was a shitty fanfic.
