my entry for deeyahs character-design contest: (OPEN) One Piece OC Design Contest! the task is to design a post-timeskip look for Rusa Jost, who's way to nice looking to be hiding out there.

here some additional thoughts that would not fit up there:
my initial idea was just CAPE. Two reasons: 1) his associated animal is a crow and that and 2) ink powers scream cape/coat! Besides, there are not enough cape designs around and seriously i think it suits such an arrogant asshole who knows he looks good. It takes a certain kind of character to rock a cape.
and flower prints. i underestimated how much he rocks flower prints.
the cape idea is complicated by the fact that i obviously don’t know how to draw a cape. Looking at this again i would probably extent the “arm-holes“ to slits completely to the hemline.
i also, regrettably, still can’t really draw hair. or shoes. extremities are evil in general.
some might argue that he’s too well-dressed but those people would grossly underestimate my thirst and very aesthetic appreciation for effortlessly well-dressing in everyday life.
tattoos: i have the impression that this guy is kind of edgy and likes edgy things, so I made up some appropriately over-the-top edgy tattoos. And maybe even in hiding he likes to toe the line and flaunt some references to his character and leave appropriate impressions.
also he’s not my oc and thus i don’t have the task of drawing those tats more than once and in different perspectives. i love tattoos, but the fact that i’d have to draw them over each time i want to draw my kids is a big deterrent. (it’s one of the reasons i still haven’t done a proper profile of my last heart pirate oc Bernada, after all.)
I, too, thought of dyeing is hair, but I fell too much in love with the #aesthetic .
a trip down pinterest for more “asian-cultures-inspired“ clothes, given that the island where he’s staying sounds asian, led to me sketching out some more outfits that are fairly similar in style in relation to each other and can be mixed and matched with this one as well — so now i got almost a wardrobe for this guy. how much asian it is is very much up to debate, but it’s pretty so i don’t feel like caring. (i have no clue about fashion and style. 80% of my wardrobe was not bought by me.)
that sketchy addition will be uploaded later this week, need to clean that up first
I originally also wanted to draw him a hat, like a fedora or sth wide-brimmed, but i forgot so maybe that's also going to show up only in the wardrobe-deviation
this happens when i get invested. I’m not sorry. this was fun!
YOU SHOULD ALL ENTER. prizes are ve nice (you even get something from me and i need some more competition cuz i don't wanna draw anything for me thanks) and also Jost is such a rewarding and easy dress-up doll. he can rock just about anything.
