Description
project designer, yo. [link]Name of Topic: Accessorize.
Accessory: Fendi Logo Wallet with Chain [link]
Fabric(s): Cotton/rayon with silk lining for the trench, with metal accents, and nubby cotton for the suit.
Model: Hilary.
Description: A fitted knee-length trench coat, snow white, lined in sky blue and white alternating negative print of the Fendi logo that is on the wallet. The suit is done in a sky blue textured cotton, comfy, but designed to look anything but. The suit has a three-quarter length sleeve, and is piped thickly in white.
Okay. My accessory is number 3.
This means, as soon as I saw that wallet, I knew I was going to use it.
But I still went through all other 76 options.
Haha, I'm really bad at decisions, but I knew I wanted that wallet from the very start. I mean, it's just so awesome! I've always been a fan of lettering as art; I think the pattern is maybe the only reason I like the thing so much.
Here's the thing: I imagine someone carrying this, and all I can think about is the Jersey Shore.
My strongest fashion sensibility is that the coolest things are the things that are so lame, they become cool again. The wallet so strongly evokes this feeling of Jersey Shore Jewish Grandmother power walking down the boardwalk in Coach. Okay, you might not know what I'm talking about if you've never been round Atlantic City...but all these fabulous old ladies don their designer best and walk the boardwalk and complain about how the place has really gone to seed. A lot of the houses down in Ventor and Margate are huge mansions, but then, interspersed, are these crazy modern monsters that somehow...fit perfectly. I've never seen a place so traditional in its values, and daring in its design.
You think that this is a tangent, but ahh, just be patient.
This wallet, in me, totally evokes this old retro sixties (and New Jersey Jewish Grandmother) vibe, but when you look carefully at the piece, it's thoroughly modern. It's a pretty polished and chic piece of leather, but that Fendi logo is like, this hiding piece of punky personality. It's the modern house in a row of mansions. It's the young biker in her athletic gear breezing by the old ladies on the boardwalk.
I don't know if that made any sense. If it didn't, here's the condensed version: this wallet is really retro and traditional, but at the same time, has a thoroughly modern feel (mostly, I think, because of the Fendi pattern).
So, this is the woman I designed my piece for. She's a professional, and needs to look conservative and well put together, but she's also young, and wants to express her own personality in the clothes she wears. So she wears polished suits in bold colours. She wears traditional cuts with interesting touches, like, maybe, three-quarter sleeves, or a patterned lining. She wears a traditional blue leather wallet completely embossed with a Fendi logo. She matches it with chunky gold chain and white sunglasses. She's confident, and wants to show it.
:cough: yeah. okay.
sorry....
I don't think that made any sense. I was up til six this morning.
In other news, Happy Project Runway Day!
disclaimer: I did not design the wallet, obvi, or the Fendi logo, also obvi.

The moment I saw in the thumbnail the coat was lined I just had to check the piece out. I think the suit itself is just awesome. I don't see a lot of women wearing suits like that, but it would be great if it became trendy over here. I think the coat also gives a very masculine balance to the very feminine coat, which makes the combination very strong and confident.
Sorry if I don't make sense. >> I just woke up.
