Aria was walking through the New England countryside, her charcoal Maine coon cat and familiar Midnight running by her heels.

"Hey... hey Aria..." Midnight said, looking up at Aria with his big green eyes.

"What is it, Midnight? Aria asked, looking down at her furry friend.

"I want one." He purred.

"You want one?" Aria asked, kneeling down, her face beaming. "You want one?"

"Yeah... I want you." Midnight replied, his body low and his tail up. "But I'm gonna make you work for it."

"I wouldn't have it any other way." Aria answered, reaching for Midnight, who batted at her hands. But Aria managed to get through the cat's defenses and started tickling the cat's belly, causing the black cat to roll around on the dirt path.

"That wasn't much of a fight, Midnight." Aria giggled.

"I went easy on you..." Midnight purred, looking up at Aria. "Like I'd lose to you if I really tried."

"Oh, is that right?" Aria's grin widened, running her fingers through Midnight's undercoat of black fur. "Guess I'll have to try harder then." - written by the awesome Xeranad
