Have you ever wondered how falling stars are born?
Well, now you know.
I've tried to make something more dynamic, less static. A girl walking through the clouds and cutting off stars on her way, with a whole damn lot of wind.
I've also tried to work with colours I rarely use, blues. And tried to darken my shades, but it's hard - I'm starting to believe it's my watercolour that isn't pigmented enough. I'll buy a few new colours and see whether it's a problem with me or my paint.
Anyway, I must say I like this one enormously for some reason. She seems so happy. I've wanted to draw this picture for a long while, and it came out differently from what I expected, but in a good way for once.
The body is extremely elongated and exagerratedly slim on purpose. I like drawing those bodies.
The pose does look quite stiif and unnatural... but hey, so would you if you were walking on those things.
I hope you will like it.

this is so different from the rest of your work. in a good way. like some of your pieces are scary because of the lack of context, with people on just white backgrounds, it makes me feel like i'm in the middle of nowhere. which is good in a way. but this has a completely different tone, and the blue is very pretty.

Your line work is so delicate... it's a unique style to be certain, and your sense of overall composition is truly striking. Plus you draw your clouds kinda of the same way I do!

WOW. This piece is AMAZING! It's so neat to see your work like this! The colors are great, the darker tones add a whole different demension to it, and the idea to it is just..I want to say captivating but I'm not sure that's the right word! I really like all the detail you put into her surroundings/the background and I think that the more simplistic clothing that she is wearing makes it perfectly evened-out and not cluttered (wow, never thought I'd say something like that to you haha, I ADORE the fashions you create in your pieces! this included!!) I can't get past how the stars look, they're stunning. And the way the clouds held up, wow, I can't think of a more fitting word than that, wow. I'd love to see more celestial oriented pieces by you! but then again, I have a thing for stars

Yes, she's a little stiff but it;s still a lovely picture. You took the critiques to heart, so there is more color and movement than before. The colors on her dress are fabulous, and her white hair brings up the image of lightning to my eyes.

if watercolors don't have enough punch, try using gouache? it's opaque watercolor paint. resembles tempra when you apply it thick.

:S I don't really like gouaches, they're just too thick for my taste, I'm perfectly unable to make precise smooth things with them.

hmm...perhaps using an acrylic wash instead of a watercolor? they thin down rather nicely with water. other than that, i'm stumped.

Well, as far as the paint itself goes, I use Daler-Rowney's, but I've been told that Winsor-Newton are better. As for brushes, I use Rafael ones, but honestly I can't see the difference between the different brands. As for paper, Arches is the best watercolour paper I've ever tried but it's quite expensive, so I usually use Canson. It's best to always use watercolour paper that will hold better with the paint.
Tips... I don't really have any, you just have to try and see how it works!
If you're used to coloring in any medium, it shouldn't be an issue, really. Watercolour isn't extremely hard to use, especially since if you mess up, you can swip it away while it's still drenched with a tissue.

Awesome, I love her stilts, and one stocking. XD
I think you did a great job on it on whole. I'm not too wild about the sky. It seems out of place to the rest of the style with the girl, the stars, and the clouds.
I remember doing something similar to your idea in middle school. It was during my obsessed yaoi days *shudder* So i made it an effeminate guy who had a ton of belts, and salad fingers. @_@
