Have you ever wondered how falling stars are born?
Well, now you know.
Trying to put into use all the advice everyone gave me, and kind of failing miserably. I've tried to make something more dynamic, less static. A girl walking through the clouds and cutting off stars on her way, with a whole damn lot of wind.
I've also tried to work with colours I rarely use, blues. And tried to darken my shades, but it's hard - I'm starting to believe it's my watercolour that isn't pigmented enough. I'll buy a few new colours and see whether it's a problem with me or my paint.
Anyway, I must say I like this one enormously for some reason. She seems so happy. I've wanted to draw this picture for a long while, and it came out differently from what I expected, but in a good way for once.
The body is extremely elongated and exagerratedly slim on purpose. I like drawing those bodies.
The pose does look quite stiif and unnatural... but hey, so would you if you were walking on those things.

a whimsical type of radiance to this piece. failing miserably? i don't think so. your use of watercolours here are very appropriate, as they add to the fantasy setting and movement of the wind etc.
i like how her hair is silhouetted against the blues. intricately painted. also the sky reminds me of marbling, or maybe putting salt on inks to make that splotchy effect. it's nice to see lots of angular stuff going on - kind of contrary to what i would've expected, and also adds to the not-so-serene atmosphere. maybe it's also the asymmetry in her clothing ... nice patterned fabrics flowing in the wind.
as to her form, i actually like the "elongated" way you drew her. it accents the high-up feeling and the excessively long stilts she must be wearing. also an interesting contrast between her hair and eyes, those exaggerated scissors, and the artificiality of the clouds. stars were adeptly designed and drawn.

I use waterproof ink to line my works, that's why it doesn't bleed.

I really like this. The whole concept is interesting, and the details you've thrown in (I think the rusty, metal posts holding up the clouds are my favorite) are wonderful in drawing me into the piece. I haven't looked at your work in a few months (been hiding from DA), but I'd say this is very different from what you usually present, due to color choice and background alone. The figure does still seem to be a little posed, but not in a static way--more like you've just taken a snapshot of her caught in the middle of moving from one position to the next. Which I guess is how one walks on stilts--wobbling through each position. Anyway, you have a right to be pleased with how this piece turned out, because it's fantastic
