All rights reserved.The "Inkdrops Project" is a new little project of mine, which started because I often have a short period of time (1/2h to 1h) between my own and my partner's return from work. This time span is too short for me to get back to work on a full-scale colour illustration (it usually takes me a little while to get in the picture's mood). So I decided to draw a quick ink picture a day instead, not exceeding the 1-hour time frame.

How do you make these? Do you just think of an idea and go with it? Or, do you draw in pencil and then ink it?

I sketch in pencil for 10-15 minutes and then switch to ink.
I try to keep the sketching minimal though, the point is not to overthink and overplan!

I did this for two months on huge sheets of sketchbook paper. Β It really did help me put down a layout quickly and be more confident in my line placement. Β I improved greatly in only a month. Β These are very lovely. Β Look forward to more.

Exactly! I can already feel over a week that doing this is dead helpful. I guess drawing is just like piano after all - you have got to practise to get better...

Thanks! Actually I was suprised myself - I've always considered myself to be a really slow artist, and when I start a large illustration it takes me ages to get the sketch right. I had not idea I could pull out this kind of stuff until I tried!
