Description
This is my entry for the father´s day contest.Recently, I found in a garage sale a cd videogame of Atlantis that you can had if you buy a Kellogg´s cereal box when the movie was released (I don´t know if it was only in the U.S.). The name of the videogame is "Search for the journal".
The story is about finding the Shepherd´s journal, in 1901. Ok, the graphics are sometimes confusing and I´m bad to that type of videogames (I´m more like a fighting videogamer) and for that reason I need three hands to play it (my sister help sometimes with one, sometimes with two hands)
But I was really happy to find this cd because one of the characters that made suggestions is Thaddeus Thatch! I was like "OMG!!! IT´S THADDEUS!!! HE´S ALIVE AND HE´S TALKING TO ME WHEN SOME KEEPERS ARE KILLING ME!!!" That was cute!
Thaddeus Thatch was a cute character because he was like a father to Milo, you know, because Milo lose his dad and mother (Thaddeus daughter, I think) when he was a kid. He teaches to Milo everything that he knows.

-Background: Pelican Stabilo point 88 fine 0.4 and dicontinued and/or renamed crayons (indian red, midnight blue, flesh, ray umber, maize and mulberry) for a 1958 64 Crayola box (not joking! [link] )

La razón por la que la segunda no le llega a los talones a la primera (a parte del rumor de que "todas las segundas partes son malas" de aquél entonces) es porque, cuando salió la primera, se estaba planeando hacer una serie para la televisión (y según lo que leí, iba a tener relación con la serie de Gargolas! O.O ), pero la primer película no tuvo el éxito esperado, al grado de que hasta cancelaron una atracción en Disneylandia y la serie nunca se transmitió.
La segunda película es como una especie de "recopilación" de los primeros tres capítulos de la serie que ya tenían animados.

hmm... did the colored pencils really color that darkly? I tried making a colored pencil drawing recently, and I colored it pretty much as dark as I could, and it still ended up a bit too light. >_>"

About the color pencils, well... maybe it´s a "visual trick" in this one that makes it look darkly: I didn´t, for example, colored all the skin of the characters. There are only some parts (like the shadows) that I colored. In the skin I used two colors. If I´m not wrong, first I used peach and then I used brown on top. If I only used the peach color and colored all the skin, probably looks light. Compare Milo´s fingers with Thaddeus ones. I think it´s about contrast. Like if you put black facing white. The black looks more darker that if you put it facing gray.
In other drawings that I made with color pencils it happens to me that the parts that I colored with black turns opaque with time and look´s more like a dark gray. To remove that I only recolored with black, but without much pressure. It´s only like polish it.
Some other drawings (almost all that I submitted here including this one) have that lighting when I scanned it, because the scanner´s light. I only move the levels options in photoshop to look more that the colors of the physical drawing.

Okay. Maybe it's just the contrast.
I used a lot of colors in this picture (like peach, orange, and maybe some brown, for his skin) [link] But it ended up looking kind of light. So, maybe if I had made the light parts lighter, the shadows would've stood out better.

This is touching and sad at the same time. In the film,Milo mentions that his grandfather's dead but here they're just talking like old pals. As a fan of the film and how you executed the piece, you deserve a favorite. Love the background.
