Captain Log: Stardate 57110.5"The Constellation is in orbit of Starbase 135.
I am awaiting the arrival of Vice Admiral Clarisse Janssen Vice Commandant of Starfleet, who will brief me that there has been increased Romulan activity along their side of the Neutral Zone. They seem to be mobilizing and although there have been no skirmishes with any Federation patrols, Starfleet is concerned and wants to know exactly what they are up to. After my meeting with the Admiral we`ll patrol the Neutral Zone to find out what the Romulans are planning and hopefully try to prevent anything from escalating into another conflict."

After the U.S.S. Hudson docked Captain Ford was greeted by Starfleet Commandant Vice Admiral Clarisse Janssen.
She was a striking woman for her age but she is still imposing as ever. Michael smiled when the flag officer arrived in his ready room "Vice Admiral it`s a pleasure to meet you. Would you care for some coffee?" he offers. "Likewise Captain. I like to congratulate you on your new command. No thank you. Unfortunately, I`m pressed for time" she says then sits on the chair in front of his desk.
Michael sits down "I take it it`s serious since you insisted I come and you would meet with me in person" he points out.
Clarisse nods "Yes I had to tell you this in person. We have reason to believe that the Romulans could be mounting for an offensive but reports from Starfleet Intelligence is sketchy. They are in a state of flux right now, eventhough they want to negotiate"
"It doesn`t make sense Vice Admiral. Six months ago they wanted to talk about having peace to avoid a Civil War, but now they`re mounting for an offensive? What went wrong?" Michael asks."It`s difficult to say Captain. The Exeter and Justice have been patrolling the area and Captain Tracey has been having border skirmishes with them. However over at Outpost 225, Captain T`Ren and the Justice have been observing increased Romulan activity. They didn`t cross the Neutral Zone yet, but it has been getting Starfleet Command worried."
Michael nods "Yes I heard from Captain Ronston and T`Ren that they have been crossing over the Neutral Zone lately but then go back" He sips his coffee. "Exactly Captain. You are to proceed to Outpost 225 at 09:00 observe the area then report to us what they are up to. The Repulse and Justice will remain in the area should you need assistance. Good luck and Godspeed Captain" Clarisse says then taps her comm-badge.
"Starbase 135 this is Admiral Janssen. One to beam out".
"Thank you Vice Admiral." Michael shakes her hand as she beams out from the Ready Room.
Michael heads into the bridge.
"Status Number One." He says to Commander D`Jetta Cam`Ra his Andorian First Officer. "All decks report ready to depart Captain" she reports.
"Very well then. Departure Stations" The bridge goes blue
"Mr.Stryker clear all moorings" He orders.
"Aye Captain. All moorings retracted" The Ops officer acknowledges.
"Miss Zula Signal Starbase control" Michael orders. "Channel open Captain" the Deltan Tactical/Security officer acknowledges.
"Starbase 135 this is the Constellation requesting permission to depart" Michael announces.
"Affirmative Constellation. You are clear to depart at your discretion" the Dock Master signals back.
"We are departing on a heading of .105 mark" D`Jetta announces.
"Confirmed Constellation. You can procede on a heading of .105. Good Luck" the Dockmaster signals back.
"Take us out Mr. Stryker. Ahead One Quarter Impulse Power." Michael orders.
"Aye Captain. One quarter Impulse power" The Ops nods and confirms as the Galaxy Class Starship comes to life and soon heads for the parting Space Doors of Starbase 135 then out into open space.
"We are free and clear to navigate Captain" Ensign Spencer the young officer confirms.
"Very good Ensign. Mr. Stryker, set course for outpost 225. Ahead warp five. Punch it" Michael orders.
Aye Captain" The ops officer acknowledges

The Doomsday Machine is my favorite episode of TOS and the Constellation-A is an homage to her

Indeed! I remember that one so well. It was the first episode I got on VHS when they were doing one episode per tape.
I'm sure you've seen the redone version they did back a while ago with the computer animations of the special effects and such.

I have to say it is especially the angles and the aft view aboard the Enterprise it went rather smoothly
I loved the music score when Kirk took the Constellation on her doom run.

The Ultimate Computer was another such episode that had the starship combat but it was in 68 following the Doomsday Machine.
It also was the first episode to show a starship actually being destroyed too.

The Ultimate Computer used a shot of the Constellation in it for the destruction of the Excalibur.
I will say one of the most gruesome of the starship destructions has to be either the Yamato or the Odyssey.

Actually its the Odussey. Because it was unexpected and you really wouldn't expect those Jemhadar fighter to take out a Galaxy class quite easily and became the prelude to the Dominion War
