Description
So this was homework that I had for my Drawing class. The assignment was to draw a person and the scene they were in. We were supposed to take 3-5 hours.I asked my sister to help. She had a book to read for school, so she did that. She had to get a different book in the middle though cuz she finished.
We had a couple pieces of a knight costume(I'm a sucker for the theming), so she thought it'd be funny to include the sword. I told her she had to wear the helmet with it too. I had her sit like that for 2 1/2 hours and called it good there.
We had a critique in class, and everyone said a lot of good things. I don't think they suggested anything to improve on, not even the professor. I see things to improve though, mostly in spots where I got lazy. They also managed to attach some profound meaning to it. Like...the costume is suggesting she's getting so engrossed in the story that she's almost part of it. But it was literally just for kicks and giggles. I think they knew that though, but chose to look at it based on the context provided in the picture itself.

With this picture the artist was clearly trying to convey the isolation from society that derives from being an artist. The armor is a symble of how we try to build barriers to protect ourselves from emotional damage when it comes to relationships.
This drawing arises many questions: is it better to protect ourselves through isolation or be stuck in an armor we won't be able to free ourselves from?
😂
Sorry I had to XD

Thanks! I thought it turned out pretty decent.
Now I've got a couple classmates who will ask me for advice while we're working. I don't really know what to tell them though, cuz I usually just make stuff up until something works.

I'm honestly just waiting to get into art class when I'm done with community college.

I'd never heard of him before, but I can see it. But no, it's just my younger sister.

I think that's how art works.
Artist, "This'll be fun."
Art critic, "An intuitive commentary on death and our desire for immortality. Breathtakingly symbolic."
I like it.

Haha, that's exactly how art works.
"ummm....this space looks blank. Let's put something random there."
"this random object represents the ever looming threat of death"
"Okay??"
It's so funny to me. I'm convinced most art does not actually have such deep levels of symbolism that the art world thinks it does. And then there's the pieces that are a little too symbolic and it's weird to look at.
