Just a standard mechanical pencil, i colored it in photoshop later.

what program did you use for the wacom tablet? I used to have a cracked version of photoshop but i lost it, did you use the pre-packaged stuff or something?

I used a cracked version of Photoshop CS3,i don't have enough cash to actually own stuff like that, lol.

Perhaps you should look into the GNU Image Manipulation Program and the GIMP Paint Studio files... That way its Open Source and totally free... And for digital painting and coloring about as capable (so long as you don't need CYMK for print, which you can 'work around' by loading work into another program capable of translating RGB to CYMK like Scribus). That, and there are some kick butt programs that are cheaper like Corel Painter and ArtRage...

I have photoshop cs3 right now and it seems to do the job just find. GIMP's a little... well gimped, i'd have to say. Have not heard of GNU before, so i guess i'll give it a look, or ArtRage for that matter. As for Corel Painter, i haven't really looked at that either. I have been looking into getting Adobe Illustrator as well.

First, i just do a basic pencil-paper drawing, most of the time with a regular type-2 Ticonderoga or mechanical pencil, then i just scan it in photoshop and go to work. I do a lot of texturing for videogame mods, so i'm used to using a lot of layers, most of the time setting them to multiply and color.

It's alot easier than one must think. Just remember, your biggest tools with coloring drawings is the polygon selection tool, paintbrush, and a metric fuck-ton of internet tutorials.

No thank you, it's still kind of mind blowing someone would take the time to copy my art, as that's the stuff i used to do when i was beginning! But, if you want any advice on your drawing, defiantly use a ruler for straight lines. It gives drawings much more 'technical' precision. Honestly, my stuff would look horrible without one.

Beautiful detail on the armor and the gun. I can see that this tablet is really going to get a lot of action! I like the attention to detail like the miniscule crack in the shoulder pad and the reflection in your JFO helmet if I'm not mistaken.
Now, the things I think I noticed: What's supposed to be shooting at him? If they are bullets, they appear to be much too small, and the tracers seem very close together, but I think it would be best in the drama department. Still, I get the impression that they are all at equal distance, despite a couple clearly being behind the Spartan's head.

Seriosly, compare this to my other stuff. It trumps it all. The Wacom tablet was the best birthday gift i've ever gotten. It's the Operator helmet, but easy mistake, they look very similar from the side.
Well considering they're just tracers, i'd imagine this piece taking place before any of the fighting between the covenant, most likely at an inserection by rebels in a UNSC colony somewhere. I probably just resized them wrong is all, they are basically clones of each other and i added them as an afterthought, so i didn't exactly spend as much time as i could have. They're in close proximity to each other, but not equal distance, it's my fault they appear so.
