Kobb — Shere Khan animation WIP

Description You gotta DOWNLOAD to see the animation.

(And yes, I'm aware that it's half blank. Flipbook hates humanity and adds a bunch of dead air at the end of movies with soundclips when it exports. X|)

So these are just the keyframes. Inbetweens and stripes (stripes, ha ha ha) are forthcoming.

Done for my advanced animation class, which has been a BLAST so far.

Oh this is so cool!!!! Really good keys and a great selection for sound. XD Please tell me you'll upload it again when you've gotten the inbetweens and such added!

Basically, you never cease to amaze me. I think Milt Kahl would be pleased Tragically, I cannot hear the sound. This computer of which I am on has no sound, and I can't seem to upload it on my lappy at the moment. *curses! Curses!*

Haha, he'd be all "Who told that girl she could animate?!" Because he was a grumpy ol' genius.

Ahh, but the sound is the best part! I hope you get to hear it soon.

Haha, he's talented, is he not?

One of my classmates told me he had more of a Bagheera vibe. I think he was being a smart aleck.

Great pose test. Odd voice for Shere Kahn, even though the voice was amazing. I just found it funny, since I was expecting such a deep voice.

As for flipbook, you have to try and export it like so: frame 01-frame whatever your film ends on.

That should make it work.

flipbook is awesome.

Kobb In reply to AshaGoesRAR [2008-10-22 19:05:19 +0000 UTC]

I tell it to end on exactly frame 235 (the length of the soundclip) and it always doubles it. It might just hate me.

And thanks. It is an unusual voice for Shere Khan, which is why I thought the juxtaposition would be funny.

AshaGoesRAR In reply to Kobb [2008-10-23 03:06:21 +0000 UTC]

That's so weird. But normal I guess. One of my classmates had the same thing happen. We were shooting our pose tests last week and hers was like, 6 minutes long. And we were all kind of freaking out and then we saw that flipbook just added 3 minutes to it for no good reason.

*shakes fist at flipbook, even though I love it*

You gonna key and breakdown this more??? I REALLY wanna see that!

And what school are you going to again? It appears they know what they're doing!

Nothin' like 'mation to make me geek out.

Kobb In reply to AshaGoesRAR [2008-10-23 15:43:19 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah... this was just the first key test. Kind of a "proof of concept" thing. The assignment is to get this to some semblance of completeness in the next few weeks. I'll definitely be posting the finished version when I get it done.

For all its annoyances, Flipbook is still better than the pencil test program we had a couple years ago, at least.

And I'm actually going to BYU, which is a private religious school and not an art school (but in spite of that has managed to put together a nationally-acclaimed animation program 8|). This is for a class taught by our brand-new faculty member (now we have 4! hooray) who used to be pretty high up at CalArts. It's been pretty exciting to learn animation from someone who actually did it professionally.

That's so cool. It matches so well with the sound. The body language just screams "Hey I'm a cool guy. And I can sing." Great work!

Kobb In reply to BrevityRaccoon [2008-10-23 20:52:43 +0000 UTC]

It's from a skit from a radio personality whose name escapes me. In the skit, a pretentious jazz musician tries to explain to some Revolutionary War soldiers how his version of "Yankee Doodle" is way less boring.

Kobb In reply to NatAsplund [2008-10-23 20:56:16 +0000 UTC]

It's for a class - just a dialog test, nothing that's ever going to show up anywhere as a finished product. We were given 6 sound clips to choose from, and I thought this would be particularly hilarious if I put it with Shere Khan.
