It had been more than a week since the adults took Izar away from the nook. Taegan knew where he had gone- the ward. And while this wasn't exactly a surprise, the word felt so harsh in Taegan's mouth, and it sent shivers down his spine.
At first, Tae had managed to keep his positivity; drawing while the other wynglings played, talking with Alma, and hanging around other kids that were kind enough to let him listen. For a few days, the only thing that was different was the lack of things to do without his only friend.
But over time, Tae couldn't help becoming more and more unwilling to leave his room. Wynglings kept getting sicker and sicker- disappearing left and right. The once bustling nook now was quiet, the other kids solemn. The gossipers of the nook spread word that wyngros were dying. This sickness? The sickness that Izar had? Wasn't a joke.
All Tae could think about was Izar. Was he okay? Would he have gotten better if Taegan had noticed his friend getting sick? Probably. This whole mess probably could have been prevented if he had realized sooner. Is... is that why Izar had seemed so mad at him...? Did he blame Taegan? Of course he did. This was all his fault anyway.
The yellow wyngling looked at the piece of striped cloth that was folded neatly on the opposite side of his bed. Holding back the hot tears that had been forming, he crawled over to the piece of fabric. Taegan coughed and held the scarf to his chest. He had held Izar like this not that long ago...
Finally, the young wyngling began to cry. How could he have been so blind? He could have- he could have told Alma, Izar could have been fine! Hot, sticky tears slid down his cheeks- an unusual texture, but what did he care? He just wanted his friend to be okay.
After a few minutes, Tae !managed to calm down. He looked at the scarf in his paws, and winced at how wet it was now. He hoped that wouldn't make Izar even more angry at him. He felt nauseous- dizzy and lightheaded after crying. Maybe it was the lack of sleep that drove him to his next decision, maybe it was the pure want to be next to his only friend, but he just had to see Izar.
Crawling out of his bed, Tae slid his bandana over his head, and took Izar's scarf in his mouth. Sliding open the bedroom window(Alma should really lock these), Taegan stepped out into the exposed night. Following the path where he had watched the grown-ups take his friend, he hoped to find the plague tents soon.

After a while of stepping in the shadows of silent houses and following the path, Tae was finally able to see the tents. It was rather eerie- the towering tents were dark, and he could make out wimpers and cries from inside. Taegan set his precious luggage on his back and he took a breath. Something felt very wrong...
He was crying
Why was he crying?
Taegan reached up and touched his face with his paw. The liquid was hot and sticky... He couldn't see it, but the smell alone made him want to gag. But he was almost there...! Izar was in one of these tents!
Tae took the striped scarf in his mouth again, and entered the tents. He begun looking for his friend. However, everything was starting to become fuzzy. It was hard to breathe. He looked through each tent for his friend, but everyone's features were scrambled, and he couldn't make out most anything due to the sticky ooze that was hindering his vision.
Taegan was on the verge of giving up; of lying on the ground and just sleeping. But a blur of familiar blue caught his eye, and he managed to walk on wobbly legs toward the makeshift bed. His breath caught in his throat when he recognized his friend. Izar looked awful; underweight and exhausted. Black slime covered his face and looked like tears- the once quiet kid was now silent besides his weak breathing.
He looked like he was dying.
Taegan let out a breath which he didn't know he had been holding, and crawled up beside his friend. He slid the scarf under Izar's chin, and hoped that he was more comfortable now. The yellow wyngling curled himself around his friend and set his chin on the other's back. Taegan wanted to do his best to keep Izar warm and safe- Taegan hadn't been there to help Izar when he needed him, but maybe he could help protect him now.

So this is incredibly late- sorry about that ^^'
I hope that the writing is okay! I'm not very talented at it, but I'm hoping stuff like this will help me become more experienced and confident in it!
Okay so basically- TaeTae becomes so worried about his friend, that he decides to sneak out and find the ward tents. Even though he becomes increasingly ill, he makes the trip and hopes against all odds that his best friend will be okay. Even though he's sure Izar is mad at him for not realizing what was going on beforehand, he hopes that he can make it up to him.

And that's it! I know the plague is basically over, but I hAD TO GET THIS PLOT STUFF OUT OF THE WAY-
I also hope y'all don't mind how rushed the artwork is!! I was really more focused on the writing than making a high quality art piece ^^'
