"Rusty is an understatement, Michael..." the blonde muttered at her trainer as she finished tacking up the red roan stallion in front of her. Michelle Nash was an experienced rider, having been on a horse's back for close to 20 of her 24 years of life, but the pair had not exactly had much time as of late to practice. Yet her trainer, Michael Jaunt, 26 year old who had this uncanny ability to work with just about every horse he came across at Fox Paw Estates, had insisted they travel down to California for this show and give it a whirl. Eric, the Drakehest stallion of their choosing, however, seemed to be coming alive the more dread she had felt. Their short notice of practice runs back home were nothing how he felt yesterday when they arrived and did some exercise rounds, as he glided over each obstacle like he was flying in the air. Michael had trained him well.

"Come on Ellie, it'll be a good time for all, and it's been awhile since anyone's seen you in the show ring!" Michael shouted her way as he left to put away the grooming supplies back into their trailer. His brown hair ruffled, his energy light and playful. He was as in his element as Eric was, and that much was made obvious with each passing person they met. He greeted everyone warmly, with a sturdy handshake or a pat to the shoulder. Michelle, however, felt herself closed off, only giving small 'hello's and smiles while Michael did all the talking. She grabbed the reins as she followed her partner closely, the stallion all too happy to tag along. One could see his own excitement building, the anticipation from the upcoming event clear as his skin rippled and shook. She gave him a quick pet on the neck before turning back to watch Michael strolling towards the show ring.

Free Rein Stables was a favored place of his, having come here years prior when he had just started up at Fox Paw Estates, instead with their former training manager, Kaylee Mason, who now had migrated to their sister stable, Fox Gate Equestrian Center. The memory of that show was a fond one, and he felt a slight ache in his heart as his memories clouded him for a moment. A nudge in the side from Michelle woke him from his distraction, and his arm wrapped around her shoulders, and he gave her a squeeze. "Thank you," he began, "I know it's been awhile, but I wouldn't have pushed for this if I didn't think you guys could do it. Plus it let you show off Pompeii!"

Michelle smiled up at him, her amber eyes twinkling in admiration at the compliment, as well as the mention of her filly, Pompeii. The young horse had been her first major investment since coming to the Estates, and she had been working with her under the guidance of Michael and their training manager, Owen Riverstride, but she was still a little too young, so they had entered the Halter class the day before, working to try and get her exposed to the showing atmosphere. Working with the filly was easy, though, as her flashiness helped take the pressure away. Working with Eric, however, put a lot more on her shoulders, knowing she could cause him to have issues if she made a mistake.

Her nerves made her shake slightly, but his presence and comforting touch calmed her enough as they approached the show ring. It was decorated in lovely Easter and spring decorations on the jumps themselves, but behind it you could see the beautiful California landscape, with its dry brush and flat terrain, yet mountainous in the distance. To the native New Englander, however, it was an alien sight. She had visited the southwest on several occasions, but still couldn't quite grasp the difference between it and the northern terrains she knew and loved. Michael hoisted her up onto her mount, and she found herself losing herself in thought. It wasn't until it was her name and Eric's name called that she found herself moving towards the ring, snapping out of her head and focusing on the muscles and movements beneath her. We've got this, she thought to herself, letting herself relax and meld into the Drakehest she was atop, finding that pairing that she desperately needed and letting them focus.

And away they went, to their first official show together, their cheerleader beaming with pride on the sideline.

I'm trying to be back guys! This is an extremely old set of lines, but I have been meaning to use them for awhile, so what better than a show for my Eric, who for some reason has been who I've been super inspired by lately ♥
So here we go, first show in a long, long time! Wish us luck! (before the end of the month I MAY add small details to this...I got kinda sick of looking at it though XD)
