Hah, I bet you guys didn't think I'd actually follow up with this. Sorry there's no background, I tried with it and then got really frustrated and stopped enjoying drawing this. But once I stopped worrying about the background I started having fun with it again.Related content

Ahh, that has to do with my original idea for a Persona 3 Portable comic. My idea was that Minato was in an alternate universe from Keiko (Minako as the fans call her). He wasn't able to create enough bonds and gather enough power to defeat Nyx/seal Erebus away, so he used what power he had to transport his soul to Keiko's universe so he could help her not to make the mistakes he made. And now this comic starts at the end of the game where Keiko has died from the battle, and Minato's shown himself to Akihiko-- he's only ever appeared to Keiko-- to tell him what happened and what he's going to do (which is revive Keiko and take her place as the Great Seal).

That's really cool actually. Although, I think you could still make it work (semi) canonically to both sides of Portable based on aspects of The Answer. In it, he appears constantly to Aigis and eventually to the rest of S.E.E.S (similarly to this comic I suppose) without the use of any power and already as the Great Seal. We also later know that the sea of consciousness can cross time and space (as shown in Q). Since this place happens to be where Makoto is as the Great Seal, I don't see why he can't connect to Minako's (or Keiko's) world fairly easily in order to save her based on the natural events of his side of the game.
The reason why he would then want to cross over, however, could be as simple as just wanting to save Keiko. If the sea of consciousness connects to all alternate realities, then Minato only needed to be the first one to close off Erebus in the sea of consciousness, meaning Keiko doesn't have to be a seal anyway. However, her fight with her universe's Nyx will naturally to turn her into one, so he travels into her universe to save/stop her from wasting her life.
Sorry for all that; it's your work so you can do what you want, but I just got really into it since it seemed like such an interesting idea. Anyway nice comic man! The characters look great, and if you don't want backgrounds that's cool, but I'd recommend to use the "whiteness" of your panels to your advantage. Like for example, the zoom out in panel 1 and the walls behind the cast in panels 2-4 don't look bad at all, they just need SOME color. When Minato appears you can use his appearance to make all the scenes go white (like from his apparition glowing) after he appears to all of them (just as a suggestion). Keep up the nice work dude!!!

Ah thank you so much ;A; I'm so happy you like not only the comic but my idea as well. I've never actually finished the answer, I just knew what it was about and was using that as much as I could, so thank you for not only explaining it but helping fit it into the main idea as well. And as for the background idea, yes, that's fabulous. I've never been solid with backgrounds before and always thought of it as a 'go big or go home' deal. I'll try to find a happy medium to where I don't get frustrated and yet it still adds depth to my comics.
As additional info about my idea, the reason why Minato couldn't complete 'the miracle' of defeating Nyx/sealing away Erebus is because he can't form bonds with everyone in SEES; he can only bond with Mitsuru, Yukari, Fuuka and Aigis. Keiko is able (in the game) to have a S.link with every single person in the group, which in my opinion would enable them to give her more strength during the final showdown inside Nyx. I mean yeah, the other S.links were important, but SEES was there fighting Nyx's Avatar with her, and they were always there by her side every step of the way throughout the entirety of the game. I think that creates a bond that could transcend anything, really. And Minato, upon seeing how dear she was to everyone, decided that it wasn't her time to go; she deserved a chance to live and grow with them, to be with Akihiko and most importantly to SHOW WEAKNESS. In the game, everyone had their time of weakness, yet Keiko as their leader had to be strong as a rock and never falter because she was their leader. This comic most importantly to me gives Keiko a chance to be... well, human.

My only counter to that is that while Minato didn't have a Social Link with everyone in S.E.E.S., he did have strong bonds with them. I point to one of my absolute favorite parts of 3, the Final Battle when Minato flew inside of Nyx after finding his answer. Inside, he's at his limit, and the only thing that supports him are the words from his teammates (hearing Junpei scream "I WON'T LET HIM DIE" still gives me goosebumps and makes start to tear up). Clearly everyone on S.E.E.S. deeply cared for Minato even though they all didn't get a chance to form Social Links with him.Β
As for the rest of your idea, I like it. The protagonists of 3 and 4 do tend to be "all around perfect" characters (which is why a lot of people like how Yu in the Animation actually faces his own shadow at the end.... spoilers if you haven't seen that btw lol) and while I don't mind having the protagonists like that personally, I totally get what you mean when you say you want to add more to Keiko's character to make her more human (as both animations have done for Minato and Yu respectively).
OH! And I just noticed, Shinji is missing. One of the things you can do in Keiko/Minako's version of the game is save him by finishing his Social Link early. I know it might be a pain to go back to add him, but maybe for the next part you can have him rush onto the roof after just finding out what happened or something.Β Anyway, looking forward to the rest!
