It's interesting that she reveals that pearls are mass produced gems meant as lowly servants. But the way she describes herself implies her caste aren't much higher up on the pecking order and are still considered expendable (just not considered property).Β

Indeed, she seems to be just above Pearls. Not by a lot, but still above. Instead of lowly butlers, I'd assume she's the equivalent of royally hired field workers.
