To pull it off, What I used was the no collide tool, Advanced Inflator tool and the Joint Tool.
For the Reach Helmets, just shrink the head, then move a helmet of your choice over it. For what I did with Wisconsin, I had the spartan pre-posed before I shrank the head, then I shrinked the body of the character of my choice (a reskined model of Cmdr. Shepard), except for the head and then manoeuvred the model into position. It's a bit fiddly at this point, but if you can nail the way you want it, it will work wonders mate.
If you want to do this to something outside of Halo (Battlefield 3 for example), I would recommend talking to lordhayabusa357.deviantart.com… , a friend of mine. He might be able to help enhance your skills for this.
