Description
Name: Terrestrial Attack & Recon Killer Unit Series (T.A.R.K.U.S.) Mk. ISpecies: Cybernetically and Genetically Altered Human
Sex: Male
Age: 23; Born June 14, 1997
Height: 5'3"
Weight (Including cybernetics): 347 lbs.
Abilities/Equipment:
- Weaponry
Tarkus is armed literally to the teeth, with two cybernetic arms that hide an assortment of weaponry. Built into each arm Tarkus has two small missile launchers carrying three shots each, one .9 mm shot equivalent to a standard pistol, a 12.7 mm machine gun attachment over the wrist, and an arm cannon. Though the .9 mm shot and the arm cannon are energy weapons, his machine gun and missile launcher attachments use solid ammunition. The machine gun must be belt-fed through a compartment on the underside of his arm, and the missiles must be manually reloaded.
The energy shots are significantly weaker than the slug throwers, but have a virtually limitless pool of ammunition. The arm cannon is deceptively weak despite being the largest gun, with a powerful knockback but mostly useless for combat. The energy shots are prone to overheating, and will cease working properly if they aren't given time to cool.
- Ammo Pouches
Tarkus has an ammo belt around his waist which are stocked with small missiles and machine gun bullets. These can allow him to restock his ammo supply, but is finite. If he runs out, he'll be forced to rely on his energy weapons. Additionally, carrying around a belt full of explosive ammunition isn't exactly safe, and if the flak material catches fire, it may very well explode.
- Cybernetic Body
Tarkus' main feature is his cybernetically and genetically enhanced body. He has a tremendous lifting strength, a deep pool of stamina, and an above-average resistance to physical damage. He can resist heat very well, but can't handle the cold. A behavior chip is implanted in his brain, intended to make him a superior soldier, but a defect has resulted in the opposite effect, making him manic and wild. As an added disadvantage, his metal limbs make him extremely heavy, resulting in less agility, flexibility, and making him entirely incapable of swimming. Tank treads on his legs afford him better traction in mud (and they spin, too!), and a neurolink port attached to his spinal column (major weak spot btw) serves as a mean of downloading data from compatible devices.
- Smoke Breath
Intended originally as a napalm flamethrower, there appears to be some sort of defect. Instead, Tarkus will bellow a plume of smoke from his mouth should he try to use this. It doesn't much of a use for inflicting damage, but at close range can be a decent smokescreen.
Personality:
Tarkus tends to swap between two "modes". In his base mode, he tends to be somewhat drowsy in behavior, albeit cheerful. He has a diligent politeness and respect for authority. In this mode he is very suggestible to others, and can be seen as being naive. One is more likely to encounter him in his second mode- combat mode. Due to a malfunctioning behavior chip planted in his head, Tarkus frequently receives jolts of activity in his brain, forcing him into a manic, aggressive state. Nearly anything can trigger this state: excitement, fear, anger, surprise, even a slight sense of competitiveness. When in combat mode, Tarkus becomes loud and physically aggressive, attacking anything that he might perceive as a threat with gleeful abandon. Combat mode Tarkus has an obsession with winning at all costs, and acts extremely recklessly, even at his own expense. He focuses in on a goal or target, losing nearly all spatial awareness, making himself as much of a danger to himself as he is to others. It can be somewhat difficult to snap him out of combat mode, and he usually just stays in this state until he passes out from exhaustion.
Knocking him out is the best way to revert him back to his base mode, but there is an additional method. Though his sense of fear is dulled by the chip, he still retains one deeply-instilled fear that instantly snap him back. He has a crippling, deep-rooted terror of deep water. His fear of water overrides all other programming, and he will typically either flee or lock up when faced with a dark, murky pool of liquid.
Biography:
T.A.R.K.U.S. Mk. I, typically just spelled as Tarkus, is a human cyborg, with additional genetic enhancements. Created as the prototype for a series of military cyborgs by the private military contractor MANTICORE, Tarkus is outfitted with a massive amount of weaponry, though some of it doesn't always work as intended. Contained in a housing pod, he has found himself crashed into the ancient city of Azlantec, with his memories fuzzy from data corruption, unaware of why he's been sent here.
