  Underhaven’s cities often have a peculiar denizen, the common raven, which isn’t known for being found in subterranean settings. These were originally brought to the population centers to serve as pets for the monks who lived at shrines dedicated to Kudairq, and with typical Human short-sightedness no one really took into account that animals tend to multiply when given even a short amount of free time.

  One interesting by-product of this arrangement is found in the ravens which still drink at the perfectly clear, still waters which every one of Kudairq’s shrines is famous for. These ravens lose their pigmentation, have a natural affinity for those of the Seven, and live unnaturally long. These albino ravens serve as the eyes and ears of the city, carrying small, experimental, magnetic recording devices as they flit about covertly, collecting information on individuals which the Kingdom has dubbed “people of interest”.

  Skeletal ravens can be commonly found as well, created from the remains of the more hardy specimens. These can be created either as common pets, or imbued with intelligence equivalent to a Human child and used as assistants or status symbols. Indeed, many of the latter are decked out with strips of Arlhian silk and have their bones set with dozens of small gemstones and beads of cut glass.
