"Naomiiiiii, WAKE UP ALREADY!" A whining voice called from behind your bedroom door. You heard lazy knocks and you grumbled in disapproval, burying yourself further into your blankets. The whirring of the AC beckoned you to continue your slumber, but the sun gleaming through the curtains protested otherwise. You heard your name being called out again and you threw your blankets away from you in frustration.'Coooooming,' you grumble. Too lazy to stand and walk, you roll from the side of your bed, onto the heaps of pillows beside it, and onto the floor. You promptly use the motion to push yourself up into a sitting position on the floor. You blink the sleep out of your eyes and use your arms to push yourself up towards the door.
The smell of bacon and syrup dance around the air, and your stomach gurgles happily. You drag your feet along the hideous blue-gray carpet of the apartment, passing the short hall of bedroom and bathroom doors, and into the living and dining rooms.
'Morning~' you hummed to your family members who sat on the couch, their eyes fixated on the TV in front. They all replied back without turning their heads away from the screen. Plates of pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon lined the dining table. Everyone else had seemed to have eaten, so you plopped onto one of the seats and began piling food on a plate.
'...He's adopted.' You heard Thor's deep voice vibrating from the TV. You excitedly picked up your plate and walked over, finding and empty seat on the couch and made yourself comfortable. Avengers was on, and the whole family was instantly immersed in watching it. Waking up to your favorite movie and fresh food made your morning instantly awesome. You laughed at your parents' and brother's grumbles whenever you squealed at Loki's appearances. Well what could you say. He was a really attractive villain.
It had already been a week since the end of school, and had spent everyday so far oversleeping, waking up only to laze about watching movies, and eating junk food while your parents went out working. But today was Sunday, a time everyone could finally spend time together. They had already planned a picnic by the lake with your family friends for the afternoon, so after Avengers ended, you took a shower and prepared yourself for the day.
You were excited about finally getting some much needed sunlight and fresh air. Though you enjoyed your freedom as a couch potato, you couldn't pass up on going to the beach. It IS summer after all. So you pulled on your newly bought teal paired swimsuit, high-waist shorts, and a black tank top with the words Let It Go and a sketch of Elsa on it. You pulled up your light auburn-dyed hair with a clip and placed a pair of shades on your nose. You checked yourself in the mirror leaning against your desk, and after nodding in approval went out to meet your family in the kitchen, who were busily preparing for the outing.
You left your window rolled down and let the cool summer breeze whip your hair around as your mother drove towards the lake. The closer you got, the cooler the breeze became. More trees began popping up and the roads were shrouded in its shade. Rather than go downtown to the larger and busier shores of the lake, you all decided to go to the more secluded parts. Trees lined the park stretched along the outside of the lake shore, and picnic areas were scattered all around.
By the time you arrived, your family friends had already found and set up a spot on the freshly cut grass. Large jutting rocks blocked the view from the lake, but it was fun climbing over them and sitting, marveling the clear waters and outstretched horizon. You all sat on blankets and devoured the carefully prepared snacks. All the dads huddled around a barbecue grill with beers in hand, the moms chatting away and taking pictures, while the kids ran around the grass laughing hysterically as they played with a frisbee. You rolled your eyes as you saw your far too tall and lazy younger brother sprawled on a blanket, eyes fixated on his PSP. You breathed in a lungful of air and sighed, looking up at the puffs of clouds.
Seeing as everyone was preoccupied, you got up and decided to take a stroll down the park walkway. You had been here countless times and knew there was a playground not too far from where you were. You walked slowly, taking in the sounds of the nature around you; the rustling of the leaves, the chirping of the birds, and the splashing of the waves from behind the rock wall. You stretched your arms above your head and sighed contently. Soon after you could hear the echoes of children laughing and saw the reds, blues, and yellows of the playground ahead.
You were a little disappointed to see that the swing set was completely occupied, so you climbed over some rocks and sat staring at the lake until you could find an opening on the swings. You were immersed in your observations of the water when you heard slight commotion behind you.
You heard angry and commanding muffles from older children, and slight whimpering from another, younger sounding child. You rolled your eyes in annoyance. Tch. Kids these days are so rowdy in public.. You would have gone on staring at the water, trying to avoid the commotion.
'Wakaranai..' The younger child cried soflty, desperation and fear evident in his voice. Your head shot up and you immediately spun around, nearly losing your balance on the rock you sat on.
'I don't understand' he had cried out.
