Ahh, sweet, a happy ending after all! There was always something a bit unsatisfactory about finishing the series with episode 6. You have now tied this up beautifully.
Except - is this really a happy ending? I get the distinct feeling that Melissa's final speech is what she knows her mother wants to hear. Melissa's true situation is probably closer to resigned acceptance rather than enthusiasm, plus a determination to make the best of things. Yes she's getting to enjoy some of it as the hormones click in, but there will likely always be a nugget of regret. But that inner conflict is what is going to make her a great actress. Very very good indeed!

Well, if you take a look back at the series, Melissa goes though a process of awkward experimentation, to polishing her outward appearance, to seeing herself as a female in society, to becoming a productive female member of society, to full acceptance of her family as a female, to becoming fully female mentally, then becoming fully female physically. Plus the rewards continue to increase until she is now a millionaire supermodel film star. Consider it to be "Pavlov's dog" where a subject strains increasingly harder against a restraint the closer the subject gets to a pleasant reward, all without realizing it. At least I think that was Pavlov's dog...
