so is that just an oil-based clay model you do in the glass for the reference lines? and how do you get everything so smooth? i'd love to see this done up in full marble hahaha

This just answered so many questions I had about the sculpting process. I'm sure if I had some some serious research I would have learned how the outer drawing is approached and continually refined as the sculpture comes together. But, I have a random tumblr post to thank for directing me here and filling in a blank. Thanks for sharing this, and awesome sculpture!

YESSSS! Very interested! Is it ordinary polystyrene? How did You get it so smooth in the end? Will it be prepared for "outsideweather"????

I don't preparated this. I smooth surface by the abrasive paper with middle gradation.
