Description
I was just playing around with the paintbrush, and I came across this. It's the first time I actually even try to "paint" in photoshop. I used to thing it's almost impossible, but now I realised it's actually very possible. The reason why the human looks unfinished or more likely undetailed, is because i wanted it to be like that. In part 2 (hopefully it'll be soon), the human will be more detailed and finished.
I would really appreciate some comments.

This is a FABULOUS first attempt at painting!!! I'm amazed! My first attempts looked a little bit like vomit. :S You have managed to merge this wonderful design-y sophisticated style with digital painting, and -by god- you've pulled it off! If you develop that mix a bit, you're gonna end up with an unbeatable, individual style.
BUt you wanted actual help with painting instead of a big ramble, so I suggest that if you want realism in your images, use photographs as references to help with anatomy and lighting. Light source is vital for developing a sense of depth, and there isn't a very clear one on your figure.
I love what you've done with the whirly bottom bit, that is one cool filter! I think it would look cool if ytou kind of bled it out into the background bit instead of having a shadow...
umm... i always try to avoid drawing dark outlines, that doesn't do much for realism... Try first blocking in the shades you want with a hard-edged brush, then detailing and smoothing with a small soft brush - at least, thats what I do! I draw with a really light opacity so I can easily blend everything smoothly...
OKay, I've written a little novel *runs* I hope it helped at all!

Oh wow .. Thanks alot. Lol about your first attempt
Well in big lines I kinda know what this whole painting is all about, I just need to get better at it.
I was browsing around and I saw someone referencing to a photo, so that's when it came into my head I was just doing that until I came in and saw your reply. Honestly, I didn't intend on giving him a depth or too much 3D. I'm not really a fan of well defined and detailed things. I like them more spontaneous and more like sketches. But of course, I'm going to try and get good at making realism, because if you can make realism in your images, you can do anything. If you can make anything look like photography then you can do almost anything. That's my opinion.
Thanks alot for your comment, it really helped.

Haha, thanks for the comment Ye i like scary faceless people too
I don't have anything very clear in my head about the concept, but i'll just go along with it and see what i can do. I'm usually a spontanous guy, so i get ideas as i go along. Yes you are right about the biceps, i just saw it after i was kinda finished and i didn't feel like going back all over. So i'll just have that corrected in part 2. Thanks again for the comment, much appreciated.

I love how he looks! The body is awesmoe, yet he's faceless! Yeah scary faceless people! Hahaha, like the bg too, dono why. Anyway, I can't wait to see part two of this, as I'm curious to see the concept that you are going along with. One problem I do have with this though is taht his bicep looks too long for his torso, or his torso is too small for his bicep.
Other than that, it looks fantastic and I can't wait to see part 2!
