It has been quite a journey. This little image has followed me from home all the way onto a ship, a beach in St. Thomas, and down to the Florida Keys. Along the way it's suffered through airport baggage handlers, more Photoshop crashes than I've ever dealt with before (this laptop does not care for the program at all) and plenty of other issues. If it had simply been something for my own enjoyment, I probably would have given up - but this is Exalted Secret Santa. It's not the sort of thing that I'd miss easily.This time I got to work on Seru Inu, a character of one of my old friends here on DeviantArt - FiveDaysMourning ([link] ). Here's the description: Fire Aspect. Deep red hair that reaches her mid back, blue eyes and fair skin (my players had a type, apparently). A thin yet ample frame, Seru was a fan of loose fitting monk's garb in battle, and extravagantly decadent robes anywhere else. Her weapons of choice are paired short Daiklaves. I had a lot of fun with her, coming up with a nice wushu pose that I thought was cool and I also thought that I could capture at least in part. I didn't get to do as much with the colors as I wanted (due to a fear of further crashes) but I did manage to figure out something that I think works, so that's something at least. Like the faces on the troops. Kind of like the "Oh Shit-!" before the pretty lady completes her transformation into a living weapon of mass destruction.

I'm glad to hear it - that was exactly the reaction I was going for.
Of course, part of it is the player's fault, not the character - her last character that could set people on fire with a thought became something of a campaign monster.

Sort of like my friend's character in Ars Magica. She got the perks that let her cast all magic without any verbal or physical component, and then specialised in illusions, mind-rape and meta-magic bullshit.
Ellyn was one scary lady, and that was way - way, way, way - before she cemented her claim on hell by personally decapitating the Devil.

Great action, and I love how the thicket of spears frames her.

I really love the look on the soldier's face directly in front of her. He looks terrified to see her standing on the narrow shaft of that spear. The details on the feet are awesome. And her hair further suggests the motion of the moment.
But my favorite might be what I noticed last. Amidst all the strained looks of the mortals, the calm look of serene concentration on her face makes the scene.

Well, they are Exalted, and the Exalted are always spectacular. As in Creation, however, they can either be spectacular in triumph or spectacular in failure...
