Description
My first dive into the Perpendicular Mandelbrot Set. Magnification = 3.26e21 or approximately 71 zooms. Perpendicular Mandelbrot is actually a vertical slice of the 2nd order Mandelbulb, which was discovered only a few years ago. Rendered in Ultrafractal 5, I actually produced this image on my laptop several months ago but only got around to uploading it recently (I tend to procrastinate a lot). The reflected zig-zag patterns are totally disconnected and are unlike anything found within the flat Mandelbrot set. I recently started exploring the Burning Ship fractal in Fractal Extreme with Panzerboy's new plugin. The patterns found in Burning Ship have a similar disconnectivity locus to that of the Perpendicular Mandelbrot. Fractal Extreme is much faster than Ultrafractal and easier to use, but I wish it had more formula plugins. (Ultrafractal slows to a crawl once you hit arbitrary integer precision).Click the download link for larger 1920x1200 image.

Excuse me, do you know the formula for this fractal? ( Well for ultra fractal of course. )
