I worked @ CERN, the European Center for Nuclear Research, during 2007. Really impressive. This is the biggest particule accelerator in the world - still under construction at this time (January 2008). 27 kilometers of ultra-high vacuum tubes, thermal insulation and -271°C liquid helium pipes, 100 meters below the earth surface. Jaw dropping.Oh, and access will be restricted to very few people after the machine will start, due to induced radiation. So I am one of the few people on Earth who have seen with their bare eyes this incredible machine.

Nice shot. What was it like working at CERN? It's quite unfortunate they had that helium leak. Hopefully it'll be back running in september...
It would have been great to see it in person. I doubt I'll have the chance now.

Nice picture! I've been there this week with school, and we saw a lot as well (smaller accelerators, colleges, the Hydrogen-source

i've read about this in Dan Brown's book, dind't know this thing whas real till i googled it, this is truly amazing. Your very lucky to have seen this with your own eyes must be really massive, it even is on pictures.
