I'm rereading this, and something is bothering me in what Kat says : "if prince Afua doesn't find you first and throw you in prison."
But the fire started away from his kingdom, so heΒ can't possiblyΒ blame Chumvi or even Tojo for a crime that didn't happen on his ground, just like he set Kat free when she arrived in the Pridelands. Afua said that she was under King Mufasa's law, so he was unable to take her back to prison.
Away from the Pridelands, no one can judge Chumvi or Tojo.

True but Scar is the king and he can report to Afua's brother Shaha and say either Tojo or Chumvi started the fire. And since Shaha is an idiot he will listen to Scar and put them in jail like he did with Kat.
Johari reported Kat when she thought she killed Mjeuri with no concrete evidence since it looked like an accident, and Afua will have to put them in jail because it will be his brother's orders.

Yeah probabbly ... although I think he'dΒ rather send them back to Prideland, because they didn't commit any crime in the Spirit Land.
About Kat well she was living in the Spirit Land so Shaha could judge her. But it doesn't matter, now everyone is safe.

Kat feels like history is repeating itself, she remembers how she thought she was a bad daughter and sister to her mom and sisters and now she hears Chumvi saying he was a bad son broke her heart because she always loved him and always saw herself in him, and while he could be a bit of a jerk he was a good lion at heart who, like Kat, never meant for things to go sour. They are so alike it's unbelievable, not to mention when Kat got mad at him, she was actually mad at herself because while Chumvi feels like a bad son, Kat feels like she was failing him as a mother because no one, besides Sarafina and Sayde, actually knew how to talk and get through to Kat and she feels like she could never really scold him when she made mistakes herself that are like Chumvi's and she probably feels like she is acting like Johari when she and Kat are similar as well and she is terrified she would drive a wedge in their relationship like Johari did with Kat.
And when he wanted to help Tojo because of something he did once and wanted to take the blame, that scared Kat even more because she took the blame for Zakiya saying she killed Mjeuri and she was sent to jail, and she's scared Chumvi will go through the same fate she did.
No parent wants their child to go through hardships, especially if they have experienced pain and misery like Kat did growing up.

Poor Kat, she understands EVERY single word, cause she lived JUST the same, she lived and did just the same for Zakiya, but at the same time she wants to protect her son from the fate she lived once

This is such a touching moment between mother and son. I'm sure Kat had Zakiya and Kiah on her mind while listening to Chumvi speak to her.
