Description
This is my entry for 's Farewell Contest. The environment that was assigned to me was 'Desert'. I based these fakemon on the desert (obviously), Wadjets, and two reptiles: the horned rattlesnake and the sidewinder addle (both of them can be found in the desert).
When I was doing my research I found that the sidewinder addle buries itself in the ground only leaving its eyes uncovered waiting for a pray to come closer and hopefully catch it. That gave me the idea of Crotarnak species (Deceiver Pokémon) and its Mirage Form. Crotarnak's desert form is based on Wadjet, which is an egyptian goddess with the body of a snake and wings. Both forms work like Aegislash's stances, when you use an offensive move you switch to Desert Form while if you use the move Mirage Veil (the same as King's Shield) you switch back to Mirage Form.
I also gave them some signature moves. One of them is mirage veil (already explained) and the others are a Flying Press variation and a Ground type Rapid Spin.
