so what's my take on these new designs?

okay then, from Left to Right:

SABAREWULF
1994: a nobleman stricken with Lycanthropy, was promised a cure for his condition if he could win the original tournament---1996: well he didn't and as punishment he was experimented on in KI2's storyline in which he fights for revenge after being sent into the past...

2015: "Konrad Von Sabarewulf" [odd "Sabarewulf" doesn't sound German...] seeks a cure in Ultratech's facilities, while using ancient techniques, to keep his inner beast from going rogue---yeah, from what I've gathered about "ancient medicine" it was mostly herbs, Mercury, and literal hallucinogens, so Konrad's a toker now, because that at the very least won't poison him ;D

B ORCHID
1994: The "girl" on the original cast, B. Orchid's claim to fame was transforming into a flaming cat, flashing her opponent as a finishing move, and moaning seductively in her win animation. She's in the tournament to spy on Ultratech which in the original game, isn't very open about it's technological endeavors...or the fact that they have a [demon] warlord in their basement guarding a portal to who knows where---1996: The past that's where, turns out killing one monster opened up pandora's box...

2015: I like how she swapped out those stilettos for a pair of boots, but I'll be honest I wasn't expecting Laura Croft

JAGO
1994: A [ninja] warrior monk who is drawn to the Killer instinct tournament because he senses that there is evil there...also Orchid is his sister and his name is Jago, because his mother couldn't pronounce "Jacob" properly---1996: after finding out his spirit mentor was GARGOS in disguise using him as a pawn to destroy his nemesis, he now fights in the past to seek revenge...

2015: ...Jago didn't change much except for an outfit that looks more like clothing [versus stereotypical "ninja" garb], a bitchin sleeve tattoo, and mousse to keep his feathered mop out of his eyes ;D

I posed the siblings this way to conserve space, ain't it cute? =3

GLACIUS
1994: Glacius was the "humanoid beast" character on every character roster that wasn't an actual monster, he was an alien made of ice with morphing abilities remenissant of the T-1000, forced to fight and win the Killer instinct tournament if he wants to go home---1996: the original didn't win but another alien of his species appears in response to a distress signal Glacius sent in the future

2015: Glacius is a space Marshall and is more alien like, with an ice-shell and psychic control over his frost based powers. He's in the tournament this time to retrieve his ship's power core from Ultratech, who are planning to use it for one of their endeavors. My design? basically I drew the alien, wearing the original design [the shell] as a Dredd-style uniform X]

TJ COMBO
1994: A boxer who lost his title after it was discovered that he used implants to enhance his strength and enters the Kiler Instinct tournament after Ultratech tells him that they will return his title provided he can win---while Thunder was somewhat of a stereotype it was a step up from being "The black guy" as your title; TJ was a black boxer in a basketball jersey with an eraser cut hairdo, he was the most visually boring character and the only one that didn't feel like more than a placeholder...so basically he was Deejay---1996: stuck in the past he now fights to get home to the future

2015: Now he's awesome! first of all he's MMA which gives him more of a range of attacks so he's now more rounded---he's removed the implants [with visual scars] meaning he's a badass normal in a game with mecha-dinos and Ki-based superpowers---and third he just looks cool, I do not like using boxers in fighting games but I would use this Combo without question

THUNDER
(Chief) Thunder was the single most 90's character in the original game; he's a cultural stereotype w super powers, he's built like a member of the WWE, he's got the "warpaint" that was the staple of many a dark-age character design, ethnic or not [thanks Rob], and if that wasn't enough it's all topped off with a Mohawk made of goddamn feathers---EXTREEEAAME! 8D

2015: he looks Native...well lets be honest he's still the size of a tank and exaggerated to the point in which you expect him to be full of cigars, but at the very least "Hinmatoom" has a cultural identity as basis for his appearance this time [Nez Peirce] and I think it works for him---I also like how the "retro" alt costume is a biker XD [wonder if he drives an Indian?]
