For some reason that chest and torso just don't quite seem to fit with the lion guy's head, arms, and hands. I guess because aside from that bit of mane at the top, it looks more like bare skin than the fur on the rest of him.
The princess girl is great all around, though. 10/10, would rescue from peril.

True, but that doesn't stop it from detracting from those other anthro illustrations as well.
And to be clear, I'm not saying all anthropomorphic characters need super detailed fur all the time forever, just a consistent level of detail. If all of him was really simplified and cartoony, that really smooth torso wouldn't read so much like bare skin at all. But compared to all the visual detail in his mane, it seems flat. Like no-fur-at-all bare skin flat, which I'm pretty sure isn't the intent.
