On today's Project Educate Article on Anthro, I'll be highlighting some great tutorials on how to draw Anthro. Sense there is no right or wrong as far as drawing Anthro, because lets face it, we don't see a werewolf running around to reference from, your imagination is the limit. However, there are some simply guidelines that you can take home with you and practice to better your creativity.
Anatomy
This is probably one of the most challenging things for people to adhere to. Anatomy in itself is a little challenging but once you get it, the sky's the limit as far as drawing Anthropomorphic animals, beings and things!
So below are a few pointers!
- 1. The Ultimate Anthro Tutorial - This tutorial was created for all beginners and Art enthusiasts around the world. It has such detail and walks you through all the basics before getting to the next level where you feel comfortable drawing anatomy for an Anthro character. 2. Movement & Flexibility - Often taken with a grain of salt is movement. Its always a good idea to have your pose laid out. Some of those involve some serious movement, especially for 'action' scenes or concepts. This is a great tutorial that shows you the important things to consider when drawing movements 3. Pose Maniacs - One of the best websites that provides a huge resource for poses of all kinds!
Here are a few website(s) that contain some great, free textures for you to use!
Cross Referencing
What does this mean? Well sense there is nothing to go off of in the real world as far as drawing something "Anthro" we have to cross reference it from something that does. For example, you want to draw an anthropomorphized cat. You will have to use references of cats gathered from various sources (usually online) and compare the features from the cat to the person. So you are taking the characteristics, features and traits of that animal and applying it to a human, object or thing.
Here is a great tutorial on cross-referencing!

You're welcome. I'm currently working on designs for Peter who was transformed into an anthro cat through an experiment. I'm having a few difficulties though. First of all, I want to keep similarities between his human looks and his anthro looks (like the resemblance of the avatars and humans in the movie Avatar). Second, I'm still having a hard time mixing cat and human anatomy. I found an awesome source for cat anatomy though. design.tutsplus.com/articles/h…

This tutorial maybe the thing I would need in order to make anthropomorphic characters. Despite me not being a furry or having any interests on "That side" of the fandom. I you catch my drift?
