This is a design I worked on a lil while back, just got to finishing it. What do you guys think of it? It is kind of Wolf Themed, but the paw prints could represent anything else.

Big thanks to *sergbel for coding this journal skin!

So this will be avaiable for anyone to use on dA once the coding is finished? It's absolutely beautiful! This would be the perfect replacement for my current CSS, I've been needing a new one anyways! :3

Great job!

Very pretty!

But... how would you go about getting it coded? Because...
a) Gradients are tricky in HTML/CSS.
b) Text stroke is, as well, not possible to pull off, to my knowledge.

It's easily possible to make a HTML image-copy of this, but not a functional, dynamic journal template from my viewpoint.

I will still say you go team up with that coder of yours. You'll probably have to reach a compromise particularly on the points I mentioned, but I'd love to see something like this.

KovoWolf In reply to Drunkenvalley [2009-05-22 17:31:46 +0000 UTC]

a) Gradients arn't all that tricky in HTML/CSS if you know how to play around with em. Ya, it can be a little hard to get workin properly, but there are ways around it. Its just a lot of slicing which can turn out to be a pain in the rear!

b) There will not be a fancy gradient or stroke along with the Journal title as I realize you can't have someone type in a journal title and it comin out all fancy like that. I'll change it so it will be like the mockup should be Thanks for pointin it out!

I don't see why this couldn't be functional? Some things may have to change in the design for it to work, which is fine and expected but we'll see!

I appreciate your feedback.

Drunkenvalley In reply to KovoWolf [2009-05-22 19:38:56 +0000 UTC]

I'm curious what you mean by the gradient-in-CSS part, now. How do you get it to work smoothly?

What I mean is that as it stands the different parts just have a gradient put on them, which makes it smooth from top to bottom. In CSS, I don't recall there being a way of smoothly stretching an image.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

KovoWolf In reply to Drunkenvalley [2009-05-22 20:45:02 +0000 UTC]

Im not really sure of your question =o gradient in css??

You have to have an image be a slice and repeat the image to get it to look 'smooth'

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Drunkenvalley In reply to KovoWolf [2009-05-22 22:58:08 +0000 UTC]

Oh, you mean that. What I meant was this: A gradient is static. You can repeat the image, but in CSS you cannot stretch it to the best of my knowledge.

Actually, tell you what. Go into Photoshop. Move the two content boxes onto another. See how the gradients are unlikely to line up perfectly? That's what I mean.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

KovoWolf In reply to Drunkenvalley [2009-05-25 20:01:31 +0000 UTC]

Ahhhh My apologies. I misunderstood your question *chuckle* Nae. You can't 'stretch' it as far as I know either. Once its an image the only thing you can do is repeat it.

The gradients wouldn't line up because the dimensions and width of the boxes would be different depending on content, which is why you'd have to make a seamless gradient

I dont make designs for free - I do offer commissions however for designs. I also wouldn't code for free nor would the person I outsource it too either (if I outsourced).

Maybe i'll have some promotion sometime where I can do a layout ... but until then, im afraid im not offering anything for free at this time :/

Love it. Good, clean, and simple design. Love the cool color choices, which I prefer to see with something that's a sleek as this These types of colours are more fitting than "warm" colours.

However, you might want to add some sort of link that would link to commission info/ art info in general

Good job and the design

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

KovoWolf In reply to NstealthL [2009-05-21 22:19:46 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for your feedback! I appreciate it. I added the "commission" field and if someone wants, they can probably add in another "box" that has their art info
