I hope this doesn't come across rudely, as it's not meant that way, but is this meant to be a tutorial on making European 4-1? I'm not sure I understand the idea behind what you are doing here with what you call enlarging the chainmail left facing rings.
Can you explain?

Yes it is, I've been using this method for over a year in order to make armour and jewelry. What I mean with enlarging the left, is basicaly add ing a new row to the rings facing to the left (the ones with theyr left side facing more upwards).
