I love the shapes of the leaves in the background, the contrast is so striking and pretty. But I think a bluer hue of green would have complemented the red better--unless it WAS that way before your scanner ate it?

I think that toucans are one of the prettiest birds everrr. They look like they're watercoloured, don't you think? Somehow now when I look at a toucan, I will think of your style- so vivid and bright and colourful. Her scarf is adorable, as well ! I love what you did with her clothes- and the background- it almost seems luminescent !
what is canson paper? How different is it from normal paper?

Canson cotton paper is softer than normal cold pressed watercolour paper. It's apparent in its... fibrosity and also brighter than regular Arches (etc).
It is absorbant, but does so more slowly than other watercolour paper so you can play with the colours more. C:
