I had an art teacher in high school who showed the class what she thought was "good" art and what was "tacky" art. The only thing I learned from her is that she did not like how I was drawing my class and homework assignments even though I was trying everything to improve.
Now I am very rusty and I haven't doodled much of anything in years.
Great job of showing the frustrations of an art student.

Oh.. don't think about that. Let me tell you my story!
When I was little(around 8?) . I went to a part time school to learn drawing. My art teacher showed our class a cartoon apple, and she want us just copy that apple. But I didn't like the face and color of that apple, so I changed them. In the end of class, my teacher showed my work to the class and said " that is a horrible work!" , because I was the only one who want to make sth much more pretty. However, I cried after she said. And I never ever go back to her class, because I want created not copy.
Now, you saw what I did! I Everyone have unhappy experience, but if you really love art, just do what you can. Don't think too much about that, just look forward.

The closest thing I can currently come close to drawing is creative writing. I'm pretty good and it is a way to get what I see in my head out on paper or cyberspace.

I was never very good at painting or creating art, but I love to write and type, and I feel like I'm creating amazing whole worlds when I write.
The pen (and the keyboard, for that matter) is my brush.
