On the planet Mars, humanity begins its venture into the final frontier through its first, extraterrestrial colonies. While a massive undertaking was made to terra form the planet using a combination of weather machines and a man-made sun; the results made the planet too hot for many humans to live without suffering from heatstroke or related conditions. The decision was then made to utilize gene-splicing to create a sort of "meta-human" to withstand the planet's heat. Initially, the first experimental subjects would be injected with prehistoric DNA; harvested from the real thing as an experimental time machine was also created around this time. The idea was that since the dinosaurs lived on an Earth with similar temperatures, splicing their DNA with that of humans could make for ideal Martian colonists. However; following an incident in the main laboratory in Alaska, the project was shut down and the UN decided to continue a similar project focusing on modern animals.

This second project was a success and it only required a minimal amount of animal DNA for humans to adapt to the temperatures on Mars. However, one scientist continued with the prehistoric experiment in secret; paying off key employees in the Planetary Transportation System to inject prepared DNA samples of selected prehistoric animals into random targets...

Two of the results of this underhanded experiment were Elizabeth and Qaletaqa.

Elizabeth Goldberg is the lone, British daughter of one of a few wealthy families who colonized on Mars in order to take advantage of a "clean-slate" market. Little did she or her family know that she was injected with the DNA of a female Tyrannosaurus Rex. This was revealed one night as she was angered by a prank that left her humiliated; she fully transformed into a horrifying monstrosity of a T-Rex that went on a rampage in the Martian capitol city of Exodus. Her rampage was only stopped thanks to the spirit of a Triceratops...

Qaletaqa's birth temporarily quelled the infighting of his home reservation in Arizona; however, the life of himself and his father would be a hard one, especially after his mother's death following his birth. When Qaletaqa came of age and was rumored to begin training as a tribal shaman, his father would be murdered and his uncle would ascend to be chief of the reservation; arousing and confirming Qaletaqa's belief that his own uncle murdered his father. However, before the teen could do anything rash; his godfather - a Japanese bamboo construction business owner - took him in and the two eventually settled on Mars in the small town of Final Frontier. However, on a night where Qaletaqa was forced to wait while his godfather finished a business meeting in Exodus City; Qaletaqa would witness Elizabeth's rampage. Being compelled to help in some way, Qaletaqa took to the streets to help evacuate innocent civilians while city officials worked to bring the T-Rex down. Upon attempting to save a mother and her daughter from the Rex's swinging tail, Qaletaqa's body would erupt in a brilliant flash of light. The Tyrannosaur's attention would be directed to him only to see the spirit of a Triceratops challenging her. After a long and exhausting battle in the streets, both Qaletaqa and Elizabeth would return to their normal forms.

In the days that followed, Elizabeth would approach Qaletaqa with a desperate plea to help her find out who did what to them...
