well in the german version Renamons voice is male...
happens a lot to some anime and cartoons, I mean with voiceing in other langugages.
thats one of the reasons why this topic pops up all the time.
also, to add to the perplexity one of the higher transformations it first turns into taomon wich looks male (the german voice is also supporting that thought), and suddely the next transformation is this humansheaped clearly female armoured warrior ( I think they changed the voice for that one).
to me its extremely amuseing (out of confusion).
in the end, I guess everyone has to think for them selfs if and what gender we give the Character. and such options are rare and should be more honored.

beeing 100%ly shure of something is a privilege to the idiots or the whisest of whise. confusion, as a small ammount is a natural state, as from the way I see it.
all we can do is: trying to get whiser or enjoying the confusion (its what I do the most), or take the easy path... like mentioned before.
remamber that in the end, what we hear, see, smell, taste, feel, etc. is nothing more than a electronic impulse in our brain.
reality is nothing more than a comparison of the outside world with our inner world. we are not unfilterd, information gets changed inside of us, till it is at its destination.
Even the great master Leonardo Davinci did know that his greatest and most important tools for him (his eye) are not telling him allways the truth he searches.
what I am trying to say is... this beeing is what ever you want it to be.
also keep in mind that I could be completely wrong, since I may fail too...
