Nice review! This special was truly worth waiting for. I could really feel my childhood coming back. Especially when they used the "Really Useful Engine" song, which I LOVED when I was a kid. It's wonderful that kids of this day and age can finally see and enjoy the original first story of their favourite tank engine while we older fans can go through a fantastic nostalgic train journey back to our younger days.

I have to agree; I thought this special was amazing! I haven't been so impressed by a Thomas special since watching Tale of the Brave, and that was only recently! Believe me, that's saying a lot. There were so many things I loved about this special, and the minor flaws didn't bother me in the slightest. I'd so recommend this special to Thomas fans!

I did watch this special and IT WAS JUST SO MUCH GARBAGE, I WOULD RATHER WATCH MISTY ISLAND RESCUE THAN THIS ABOMINATION!!!
Nah! I'm only joking. IT WAS JUST SPECTACULAR!!! It was better than Tale of the Brave any day! Thomas is now officially back to his original roots, and the original character themes have come back, thanks to the talented Brenner himself.
There was a flaw about Henry being in his current shape and remaining green instead of being painted blue, but nobody complained about the TV adaptation of Henry and the Elephant where Henry was in his current shape. At least it didn't get in the way of the story.
This is their best special to date and a fine way to celebrate Seventy years of Thomas. Reverend Awdry would be pleased with this special.
My only hope is that Sodor's Legend of the Lost Treasure is just as good if not better than this. Also really looking forward to Season Nineteen.

I really wish Really Useful Engine had the pitch raised a little so it matches with the original version.
