Sorry, I thought you said you gouged your Wacom Board surface. My board has a transparent overlay sheet that lifts in the front. it can be completely removed (Taped on top of board) and a new overlay can be ordered from Wacom to replace it. I have gone through two of them so I am pretty familiar with the problem and the solution.

The overlay is the plastic sheet that goes over the surface where you allow the pen to contact with the tablet so you can draw, color, whatever ... ordering a new one of those should shove the problem.
