Description From a recent episode of "The Lore", some of the hosts did not like the human-like appearance of the Dragon King in MK: Deception. Inspired by that, I thought it would be a cool idea to take a first stab at redesigning Onaga the Dragon King himself. Note that this isn't high-quality art as I only draw for fun, not as a living.

First of all, Onaga finally has a snout though not from a lateral POV. he also has spikes on his jawline and two spikes on his chin, giving him a false beard. The Japanese element of Outworld is reinforced with the shogun helmet like Shao Kahn, but also adding the "dead emperor and his lost tomb" theme with a pharaoh nemes headdress to work, emphasizing his ancient reign long before Kahn came into power. His eyebrows are accommodated by small spikes to his slit pupils that I think give more ferocity to Onaga's appearance than his last incarnation.

I replaced the thick shoulder pads from the 3D era with draconic skull shoulder pads to work with the theme. In addition, I also replaced the skull pattern on his belt with a barely visible dragon skull. The gauntlet and golden bracelet from his Armageddon costume were kept as I thought it would fit him for a Emperor.

The pendant in the middle of the chest is now held by two chain links and I decided to add a piece of lore with this jewel as it was left unexplained in the old canon. I think the pendant on the Dragon King's chest contains energy that keep his entire body intact when he possessing Reptile even though destroying the Kamidogu would weaken him. If that pendant is destroyed, then Reptile would be reverted back to normal and Onaga's soul would be free to float again without a body. Based on Sindel's Deception ending, it could be that there are two pendants, one on Onaga and one in the middle of his original body's chest cavity that is in the sarcophagus in the Lost Tomb. If only the pendant on Onaga's corpse was destroyed, then the body which Onaga's spirit inhabits would be vulnerable to attack and unable to regenerate from his injuries. And if both pendants were to be destroyed, his soul would be very vulnerable to attack from magik and supernatural weapons that can destroy him for good since his corpse pendant no longer ensures that his heart can reform.

He also holds a sacrament bowl filled with blood, most likely from an infant dragon to give him eternal life like what was mentioned in Onaga's bio. The shinguards are also modified into a golden spiky shape held together by red cords. They have the Outworld letter for "O" for Onaga based on some inscriptions on the wall of the Chambers of Artifacts stage in MK: Deception. The brown scales on his feet are just based off theropod dinosaur illustrations. In addition, his loincloth now has the Outworld Kamidogu symbol, signifying his rule over the realm.

Finally, I wanted to make the wings a lot more intimidating by giving him these eyespots based off emperor moth markings. I can added a bit of lore to them. They might emit some magik from his wings to help resurrect the dead or torture shackled prisoners by forcing them to stare into them so they relive their worst nightmares in order to put them through a brainwashing program. Plus his wings now are modified as weapons that can either shield Onaga, grab his opponents from afar, or generate powerful winds to knock them over. The tail is also now modified as a weapon to constrict his victims like a python thus making him more of a dangerous adversary. The bloody Shao Kahn helmet was added just for fun to dish him lol.

He's rumored to return in MK11, if this design was used, it would be coincidental.
