Description
Consider this just as the kick starter to the series. Promoting it if you will.I liked King Kong (1976) when I was a kid. A kid, a little kid. I first saw it on DVD when I was about 8 years old. Then, I was introduced to Charlie's Angels and saw the original trioπ Then came my adulthood, and I would learn a few things:
1, Dino de Laurentiis was a dick (he's dead, you won't be missed).
2, He's a whiney ass. He asked Harryhausen to do the stop motion, but declined due to not enough time, and Dino just threw a temper tantrum. Ray Harryhausen was a master craftsman who understood stop motion animation, and Dino obviously didn't know shit from apple sauce.
3, Universal had a terrific script, but again, Dino was an ass-hat.
4, a Monster was almost hired to direct.
5, Jessica Lange was not a good actress back in the '70s, and I hated how she got the part. King Kong was her first ever role, no commercials, no music videos, no TeleVision episodes, nothing! Inexperienced. It was not the directing.
6, once I saw that Farrah Fawcett was almost cast that made me happy, then made me unhappy for what this was; a should have been, but you see, she made a commitment to Charlie's Angels that she would later go back on because of modeling and acting offers. Which disappointed Jaclyn Smith, and she expressed that in an interview.
It would have been possible for Farrah to be Dwan and negotiate with that little shit stain Dino to give Ray more time and negotiate with the creators of Charlie's Angels to postpone the production of the pilot so WE could have had Farrah Fawcett as Dwan (should have!). Poof we have Ray Harryhausen on boardπ and we have Farrah Fawcett on board to starπ, and of course, if Ray still declines only due time complications, I'll understand and not be a Dino. Hell! I agree with him that stop motion animation is time-consuming. As long as we have Farrah still on board, I'm fine and excited. You guys can literally look into all of this and see that I'm correct beginning to end, how it could have been possible for Farrah Fawcett to be cast as Dwan.
What should have been.
As for Universalβs Unmade King Kong with Susan Blakely that's another should have been story and shall be told another time either by me or another.
For Farrah Rest In Peace fellow art loverπ₯°
