Description So I decided to try out doing custom animation... sorta. Seeing how much I love Shanoa, I wanted to try to make her sword glyph union into FE form (as a critical attack, I'll do a regular later). This is how far I got. Got a comparison between my FE Shanoa with sword union and Castlevania Shanoa with sword union, plus process of the sprite sheet.

As you can see, it's very heavily based on her original sprite sheet. The hardest part could be her long hair!!! God damn is it hard to make it look perfect. I guess another thing is to make her body look as close to FE as possible. So much from-scratch work T__T

Any critique will be greatly need

I'll probably scrap this later.

I think it would help if you gave her hair more contrast. The darkest shade needs to be darker. Otherwise, it's a good battle sprite.

Random quick notes, never seen either animation in motion:
a. Standing and bent over looks really distinct right now
...i. maybe because there's no red in standing frame, and
...ii. her hair gets super long when it's waving around [both styles].
...iii. It feels like her height changes too but dunno yet
b. On bent frames, waist leather and shoulder shading seems thicker on FE-style over thin ref source.

If you're doing each frame w/out traces, it might be easier to do shading absolute last (and in pieces). Dunno if you're doing it frame by frame, but it might help to have the entire thing shaped/silhouetted out first.

The frames that you have look good, and the animation cycle you have right now has a nice wavy->foom action to it. Hope random thoughts helped, and good luck~

The way I see it, the animation involving the hair will probably be a lot of frames used very quickly. Looking at it from that perspective, you shouldn't need much detail/shading because there isn't going to be much time to appreciate it. I was working with Ninian's sprite recently and that was the case with her shawl.

True, though I'm pretty much using really simple shading, one dark, one light and one outline. Thanks for the heads up!

Wow the sword looks soo cool!! I can see why the hair is the hardest part, but maybe you shouldn't make it so difficult and detailed. It doesn't look too bad though
