Description Nother Eve piccy

There are a few things I still might tweak a little but it's pretty much finished. I wanted to get away from the black space with nebulae and a star field cliche and try something a little different with this piece.

This one is again designed to split into two images as a wallpaper. I'll get the wallpaper versions setup and posted on Eve Files some time this week. In the mean time you can use the download option here on DA for a higher resolution version.

Photoshop CS2

Oh man this is BAD ASS, as has been pointed out it does look a bit like the old school sci-fi paintings that you used to see adorning the packaging of various old toys and stuff... quite often, the artwork was better than the content.

Good job.

Why don't the Minmatars use Hoggers (Nidhoggurs). Those are pretty much the most feared Minmatar ships in eve.

I'd probably go all Caldari if I am to fight all Amarr though. But that's probably why I am never allowed to be an FC

Yes and take all that pretty EM damage to your shields. Caldari have the hardest time tanking Amarr in the whole game.

Minmatar flawless victory, Amirite?

I really like this. Maybe it's a bit...colourful for EVE? I don't know, but like you said, you're trying to move away from the more traditional view of space.

Who will win? Nobody knows!!

Yeah, a bit colourful for Eve, if I do any more I'll try to make them a little grittier

That Tempest behind them could be their savior. If that is a tempest, I haven't played the game in a long time and even when I played it was very limited.

But, I can spot a Rifter. That's for sure.

well let's see how many ship types I can name off, since it's been long enough since I played to not remember all of their names...

frigate or interceptor

um.... there's one ship

cruiser or heavy assault ship

battleship

dreadnaught

yeah, if the Minmatars play their cards right, then it'll be an outright beatdown, since the dreadnaughts should be (hopefully!) deploying Fighter drones, which are frigates on crack unto themselves....

and all the amarr forces seem to have are battleships and battlecruisers as their heaviest pieces of equipment. but then again, the Amarr do have a LOT of them... it'll be a nice looking fight, at any rate. Somebody turn on the Fraps!

whups, incomplete thought up there!

there's this one ship, I can't tell if that's a frigate/interceptor/covert ops, or a cruiser/heavy assault ship/recon ship...

The very small guys? Or the one that's leaving a large blue engine trail? Or maybe the one to the left of it?
And which one is the one coming from the bottom left of the picture and we only get to see its top?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Talancir In reply to Shadow69cro [2008-02-23 13:02:57 +0000 UTC]

well the two ships I was referring to are inbetween the two dreadnaughts positioned in the middle of the minmatar formation. the big engine trail from the battleship at the bottom center of the minmatar formation is... "The Garbage Can," since I can't remember what exactly it's called. the battleship on the left of the formation is the Typhoon, the one that looks like a big sailboat.

the one coming from the bottom left is an Apocalypse.

now that I think about it, if that's all the Amarr fleet in the system has to offer.... they're cruising for a bruising. they have only 8 battleships present, followed by a lot of escorts...

8 battleships
1 battlecruiser
5 cruisers
4 frigates
11 indeterminate classes

the minmatar formation have serious firepower on their side with those three dreadnaughts, escorted by 2 battleships, a battlecruiser, and smaller craft.

3 dreadnaughts
2 battleships
1 battlecruiser
6 cruisers
2 frigates
10 indeterminate classes

yep, it'll be a bloody one, but if the minmatar are conservative about throwing their ships at the enemy forces, and let the dreadnaughts and battleships pound away at a distance, the minmatar will have more than the three dreadnaughts after they win.

Terenin In reply to Talancir [2008-12-13 11:45:18 +0000 UTC]

Let's see... from what I can see, the Amarr have:

1 Abbadon class Battleship
5 Apocalypse class Battleships
3 Armageddon class Battleships (1 KIA)
2 Harbinger class Battelcruisers
1 Prophesy class Battlecruiser
4 Maller class Cruisers
1 Omen class Cruiser
2 Punisher class frigates
2 Executioner class frigates

... a few other ships I can't see clearly to ID.

The Minmatar have...

A POS-Tower, with it's shields up thus possibly with guns... and modules inside the shields.

3 Naglfar class Dreadnoughts
1 Tempest class Battleship
1 Typhoon class Battleship
1 Cyclone class Battlecruiser
3-4 Rupture class Cruisers
6 Stabber class Cruisers (1 KIA)
2 Bellicose class Cruisers
2 Rifter class Frigates
2 Vigil class Frigates

... a few to hazy to ID.

Way I see it the Amarr is screwed. 3 dreads and a POS tower will very likely kill 9 battleships, the down side is, the entire Minmatar regular fleet will likely die very, very soon.

Also, the Minmatar Battelship with the solar sails is the Tempest, the Typhoon is the really big and bulky thip to the bottom right.

Enterprise-E In reply to Talancir [2008-12-05 12:39:56 +0000 UTC]

play a little more EVE then

All ships are pretty determinable for me.

On Amarr side there are some Omens, Mallers, Arbitrators, Executioners, Harbingers, at least one Prohecy and Punishers. And of course the pretty recognizable battleships.

The ship from lower left is not another Apoc however, but an Abaddon. I wonder why there is no completely visible Abaddon on the image.

The Minmatar have a Typhoon and a Tempest, a couple of Stabbers, Vigils, Rifters, Bellicoses. In the distance there even is a Cyclone.

I'd say, go Amarr! Kill the battleships, and their support, then tracking disrupt the Dreads, and tank the fire that is still incoming. Sieged Dreads wont hit much anyway, unsieged Dreads have lower DPS then a battleship.

You clearly know a whole lot more about EVE than I do. Due to time constraints and the inability to get a game card over here I was only able to play trial. Two times trial.

I know what I saw and what I saw on movies on youtube.

Shadow69cro In reply to Talancir [2008-02-26 08:49:26 +0000 UTC]

I know what I'm missing. From what I saw EVE is not like other MMOs. There is no such thing as power leveling, which in turn reduced the population by a lot and also raised the overall IQ by a fraction. A lot of emphasis is made on talking and player driven economy than just frantic and mindless killing of your foes for whatever reason.

I played WoW and the mentality of the game just made me quit. Saving the world once is excellent, but doing it over and over again in the same way is more than boring, it's stupid and the game makes you do that.

Talancir In reply to Shadow69cro [2008-02-27 06:44:20 +0000 UTC]

I can definitely agree on the IQ part. even the isk farmers have gotten smarter, though they're still easily destroyed once you catch onto their antics.

EVE also keeps adding new skills so there's no one still playing that's ever "maxed out" on skills.

Shadow69cro In reply to Talancir [2008-02-29 10:18:03 +0000 UTC]

The skills system is great in my opinion, just click and wait.

And they add something new all the time but also improve the existing content. In games like WoW they just add new stuff without improving the old. Simple things just so you spend another month or two playing.

Talancir In reply to Shadow69cro [2008-02-29 15:03:46 +0000 UTC]

yeah... not to mention the player-driven storyline. I wasn't even really into playing EVE until I read up in detail on the Great Northern War. do you know much about that?

Shadow69cro In reply to Talancir [2008-02-29 23:54:24 +0000 UTC]

Talancir In reply to Shadow69cro [2008-03-01 05:08:17 +0000 UTC]

Shadow69cro In reply to Talancir [2008-03-01 12:14:23 +0000 UTC]

Current? Been a long time since I played and even then I was in my own little world unknown of the happenings around me. What could I have known with a small frigate and a trial account.

There was a fight between some group called "Kadeshi" and a group "Blood -", hmm, forgot the last part of the name.

The Blood lost, really lost. The Kadeshi devastated them.

(Not 100% sure on the names.)

Could be. Not sure but they lost, flawed tactic. Man I forgot what ships they had, but it wasn't a good combo. The barely scratched the other team.

Lol, it does have a touch of the old scifi paintings about it

I did a funky sketch which was all bright colours and I just kinda went with it. I'm red green colourblind and I am very envious of artists who can create successful brightly coloured images. I try hard and experiment with my own work since my paid work usually has quite tight (and boring) restrictions.
