Actually it's okay to use tri's, its usually what we use to judge the size (etc the model needs to be 5000 tri's.) When a model is put into a game it gets converted to tri's anyway. Having said that with next gen games (PS3, XBOX 360etc) we are modeling in Quads as it will give you much better results in programs such as Mudbox and Zbrush which we use for creating normal maps. The low poly meshes we put the normal maps on can have tri's in it if you need them. Hope that makes sense. The Crash models were not next gen so there are a few tri's in the model.

that makes sense! did you use zbrush for this model?

oh, i don't know about maps and the like, just the characters themselves. maybe that's the same thing. ^_^; forgive me please, i'm really new to all of this and just really eager.

oh! i've also never heard of mudbox. i'll ask my teacher tommorrow.

and right right. do things look smoother when modelled with tri's or quads? or does it not matter? oh yeah, and what is this modeled in? maya?
