Ectoplasm! That's cool, to me it looks like an insectoid head, an agglomeration of leaves and bark, or a spaceship about to dock.
Thanks for the comment!

Anyone else see the "goddess" or Woman like figure towards the bottom?
First thing I noticed, and the whole image changed for me xD
Love it, GJ!

Thank you.... never been called that before... it's always 'Padawan darn my socks' and 'Padawan put the kettle on' and 'Padawan bring my pipe and slippers'...

...wow. that is just...wow. the depth is incredible. i can honestly say that i've never seen a fractal like this ever before - truly stunning!

Glad it appealed! The 3D mandelbulb is quite a new 'kind' of fractal. I think it's not so popular yet because the programs that create them don't allow the user many options to influence how it looks. It's all exploration and 'photography'. That's one of the reasons why I edited my 'photo' and there aren't so many fractals like this in my gallery. There are some DA members who have got a wonderful set of images out of the programme, though.

ah, i see! my dad is very fond of using programs like apophysis, ultra fractal, things like that, and they've never generated fractals like this before. so it was quite a treat to look at, must say. (:

Both those programmes can create some 3D-ish output, UF might be capable of making mandelbulbs, I'm not sure on that score. You (or he) might like to try Mandelbulb 3D.

I like this because it doesn't look like the fractals I'm so bored of seeing. It really has some beautiful depth and texture, feels tangible. Like a massive floating rock in some great ether. I like the peace that the border seems to lend the structure inside. Really nice.

Thanks a lot for the detailed and thoughtful comment!
I know what you mean about 'bored with fractals'... if a style's popular you get a lot of variations on one theme. I have to say though that it's more or less the same with all genres and if you like fractals you see the differences and appreciate their infinite variety...and if you don't... well, you don't

this is realy realy good
as i often say, fractal art is made to be seen from closer and closer and closer, and so on.
and here it's exactly what happened, i opened the page, and had imediately to click on the picture to make it bigger ^^
it's sad it doesn't worked with the second and third clicks... ^^"

Glad you like it! If you would like to see something zoomable you might like to check out this guy's work - and click the links...

Mr Monnier knows his stuff... though his current work doesn't look much like 'fractal art' it's great to zoom in deep and take a look around.

thank what he's doing is really good!!
I know a person, who created a program on PC that creates a random fractal figure, and you can zoom endlessy on it, it's just amazing how the forms are repeating themselves again and again!

i give you a ton of credit for doing this.
i looked up 'mandlebulb' on wikipedia and certainly my mind was blown.
"using a hypercomplex algebra based on spherical coordinates."
then it lists a massive formula to achieve this.
i am positively amazed, wowed, and awed.

Thanks a lot! Much as it hurts to deflate your opinion of me, but I don't deserve quite as much credit as you imagine
This is basically a manipulated photograph of a static object - instead of going out and taking a building I stayed in and explored a 3D fractal on my computer. I created a nice image with it... but I didn't have to understand hypercomplex algebra

my opinion is certainly not deflated at all. this is still something that is way beyond my comprehension.
