Description This one's mine... first effort created from scratch in Incendia. That grain just won't and won't go away... those tubes would not solidify.... and that neon glow wouldn't get lost either but otherwise this came out alright I guess - the rough unfinished look could be a plus, right? Er... yep. : )

A good one.

The grain is many times a horrible headache when it comes to these type of 3d-renderings.

Thanks! It's clear that the 6 hours or so I gave Incendia were not enough to deal with the large amount of detail. But my computer goes to sleep after several minutes of not being used and rendering stops, so I guess I need to find out how to change those settings otherwise - no overnight renders. Mind you, they are a big waste of electricity. Perhaps I'll just render better Incendia pieces during long working periods...and live with the grain otherwise.

the way to go is an overnite render, just say sleep - never. In the upper part there is a piece of fractal in front of the tube causing the grain, you can try to move it slightly or change view angle. Also on the yellow you can adjust levels and specularity to soften the hot spots. Some complex fractals like this one may take a little longer to clean up.

Some valuable advice here, thank you! I will bear it in mind... have already found the sleep-never option so I hope to produce some higher quality renders soon...

If you have windows then you just go to screensaver.
There you will find a button for energy-saving.
It is usually set to shut off the computer after a certain time. ( 5 hours usually ).
Change it to never.

And look around a little. There can sometimes be other things too.

I really like this one. You should have told me that you did all of that on purpose because I would have believed you.

true... and put a frame on it and a title like 'Dissonance And The Void'.

Some say the value of art is not in the art itself, but in the frame

An interesting piece, Roger.
I think it a great first effort.

Thanks! It's not as hard to get at least something out of it as I'd thought it would be... it's fun and worth persisting with. Anyway, I can't give up before doing a castle piece, right?

I take your word for it.
I tried and still try to do something
in Blender but it has a learning curve to it
that I have the most difficult time with.
It is keyboard and mouse thing...

Incendia's nowhere near as tricky as Blender, that looks a real tough nut to crack.

go back to Blender i have the same problems.
Even with all the notes I have taken.
