One small error there. We're in a republic (based off the Roman system), not a democratic state. The Greeks failed with democracy and it collapsed after 50 years. A republic utilizes representative government, theoretically being a unified voice of the civilian population. You raise a valid point however. The people we "elected" are sitting there squabbling with each other, and manipulating the voices they should be listening to. Perhaps, they are truly bringing our wants to the forefront.
Have we sunk to such a level? What will become of such a state?
