Yeah the whole lying and apples thing is tied together. Georgy was supposed to be a destructive pre-teen who decided to chop down his moms favorite apple tree when he was twelve. When his dad asked him about it he's supposed to have said, "I cannot tell a lie" and then spilled his guts. It probably didn't help him that his dad found him next to the tree with an axe.
Wether or not my details are accurate, it doesn't matter, the hole story's BS, just ancient propaganda to get people to think he was honest.
